I know that the composite necessary for a 1-5 change each year, an that the weight that’s multiplied changes, but what’s the method for actually calculating the composite? (I also already know MC is 45% and essays are 55%, but I want to know how you get the actual point-value of the composite score).

i think you multiply the mc raw score by 1.2 adn add that to the free response score which is multiplies by 2.9 to get a score out of 150

To figure your composite multiply the MC raw by 1.25 and the essay section by 3.055555 and you can get a possible 150. We did some number crunching after the test

Here is what my teacher gave me:
Section 1: Multiple Choice
(Number Correct: ____ - Number Wrong: (1/4 x ___)) * 1.2500 = Multiple Choice Score (Do not round)

Section II: Free Response
Question 1 Score:____ x 3.0556 = Score 1
Question 2 Score:____ x 3.0556 = Score 2
Question 3 Score:____ x 3.0556 = Score 3
Score 1 + Score 2 + Score 3 = Sum

Composite Score:
Multiple Choice Score + Sum = Composite Score (round to nearest whole number)

Conversion Chart:
108-150 = 5
93-107 = 4
72-92 = 3
43-71 = 2
0-42 = 1

Good luck on july =)

Oh, btw, i find it easier to calculate raw MC score by:
(Total number of questions)-(# wrong * 1.25)- number omitted
I always hated having to count up number correct and all

According to my predictions I have a 97. Lets hope either a) I got more MC right than I think or b) my graders are nice.

My prediction is between a 102 and a 109. I really wish I had not skipped an entire passage on the MC. If I had actually budgeted my time better, I probably would have gotten anywhere from a 122 to a 129. Oh well I have faith that I’ll get an extremely high 4 if not a low 5. Good luck to the rest of you!

i’m guessing a 92.9… i really screwed essay 2 up, but it’s an underestimate, so i guess i’ll have a solid 4

Hey that’s good :)

Read my post on the other thread about your mishap w/ essay 3! :D

Worst case scenario = 89
Best case scenario = 117
Realistic Prediction = 96-102

So hopefully I’ll have a solid 4. That makes me feel much better…

Peindre? I like your username! It’s so different! I know it’s French, but the question mark really makes it unique! If you don’t mind my asking, why did you choose that username? Also, did you take the AP French exam?

Yeah, I really screwed up at the end of a passage, but did decent (6, maybe 7) essays IMO.

My reading skills aren’t half bad so I think I did pretty decent on the ones I answered.

Worst: 96.2508~4 low
Realistic: 106.8064~4 high
Kind-of-optimistic: 116.6676 5 low

I’ve been kind of harsh with my predictions, though, I imagine I’ll get a 4, maybe a 5.

I chose that username because I couldn’t think of anything else :-D. I am a French student but I am a lowly junior in French III and so will be taking that exam next year. A bunch of my senior friends took that test a few hours ago though. Poor them…I’ll have to ask them how it went tomorrow.

Some of my junior friends in French IV completely skipped the exam and went home, haha . . .

I still think your username is cool, peindre(?)!

I took the AP French exam today. I’m practically fluent in French (though I’m not a native speaker). I wasn’t born in a francophone country. I’m a native Spanish speaker, so that helped me pick up French and Italian much more easily.

Haha, at times, the AP French MC seemed a little like the AP Eng. Comp. MC (though on a slightly easier level w/ A-D rather than A-E choices).

Overall, I think I scored high 4s or low 5s on both tests (which is a little disappointing for me in French) bu oh well ;)
