Student 1:
3.75 GPA
800s on Math 2, Chemistry, Biology
Student 2:
4.0 GPA
700s on Math 2, Chemistry, Biology
For top schools, which one is viewed as superior? Given that the rest of the application is similar, which would the top colleges choose if they could only pick one and why?
Student #2 . Almost every time. SAT IIs are not as important as GPA. Far from it.

I also say Student 2. SAT IIs can be crammed for, but a 4.0 shows four years’ worth of dedication.
In this case, student 2. If the SAT score was even lower by a few hundred, then student 1 might be better, due to suspicion of grade inflation.
@anxiousenior1 Out of curiosity, who is the girl in your profile pic?
@Woandering Park Bo Young, the cutest thing alive.
SAT II scores aren’t very important. SAT I is a more nuanced discussion.
GPA is just a number, so it would depend on their class rank.
Scoring consistent 700’s, especially on Math 2 in which that would be around the 40th or lower percentile, would certainly raise a red flag for me.
What if the situation was the same except instead of SAT II it’s AP scores? 2s and 3s for student 1 and 4s and 5s for student 2.
AP scores mean nothing in college admissions.
