How is college life?

I’ll agree they’re different majors, but I’m not going to say music is a easy major. Actually it wasn’t just me trying to compare them. When I said music was considered hard, others here said it wasn’t. You guys implied they could be compared just as much as I did.

No I did not try to come off as saying I knew everything, but you clearly don’t know everything either, even though you are in college. But I guess you don’t know much since you can’t have much time for studying with all that partying, since you attend a party school.

And you’re annoying to me too.

Also, I don’t think I’d find some STEM majors all that difficult. My parents actually want me to do math as my 2nd major instead of history, because they think I’d find it pretty easy and have plenty of time to focus on music.

Probably not the easiest major, but I don’t think it’d be as bad as many people try to say. Although it’d be bad because it’d be super boring to me. I’d hate it that way, so I might not do as well in it because it’d bore me to death. The music workload is just as much time, if not more, so yeah I think I could survive that, but like I said, it wouldn’t be interesting to me.

LOL @iluv if she actually thought somebody was reading that essay of response.

Delusional!

I think you should ALL be quiet…because I bet I am doing something more difficult then BOTH of you…

Your parents probably suggested math because people who do well in music usually do better in math. it’s not that math is easy, but they have a connection…

Yes, I don’t know much about music majors, but I’m sure as hell not going to read all that mess. Is anyone? This is a real question to everyone. Did anyone actually read all that?

This sentence literally made me laugh out loud…if you honestly think my school isn’t a good school, then you don’t know anything. It’s one of the best public universities in the country. I’d think it was fair of you to say I don’t study much because I post about going to parties more than the average person on CC. That’s a fair shot, though not true in reality, but whatever. But saying I don’t study because of the school I go to doesn’t even make sense, lol. Do you think no one studies here?

^I’ll agree there is that connection and that a lot of people find it hard. I don’t though, but there are some music people who still find it hard. My dad used to ask me math equations and problems sometimes while I was playing…not hard.

The ‘essay’ did get longer than I meant to. Sorry for that. Read what you want, but get the main point of it please.

@ RoxSox,
If you have the TIME to go to parties and still make good or decent grades, the classes obviously can’t be that tough if they don’t require much time. It’s fine if you like partying though. I’m not a party person.

Doesn’t mean it’s easy. however if they’re doing nothing, they’re not going to get anywhere when it comes to post-college plans. They’re probably not going to get into grad school for music if they want to (idk maybe they don’t care). But for serious musicians who plan on going into that as a career and getting into grad school, it’s a lot of time and work. Ask any serious music major or any professor probably who has gone to grad school.

Man, all I gotta say is I feel sorry for salone4u …
The kid just asked a simple question LOL.

^Yeah…thread got hijacked pretty quick

UW is a wild school where the kids do lines of coke on a daily basis, they almost made Charlie Sheen class president

^^ and ^^^, well this is what happens when someone starts a debate saying one major is harder than another. I’ve just gotten really mad lately seeing several of UAKid’s posts about engineering being the hardest, and he’s not the only one, there’s other people too that do that all the time.

Yeah, obviously. How much studying and learning can actually be getting done when a large part of their time is spent elsewhere?

“Probably not the easiest major, but I don’t think it’d be as bad as many people try to say. Although it’d be bad because it’d be super boring to me.
Just as I had said, you really can’t know unless you’ve had experience with the major. And at this point I can also say that about music since you have not started school yet. You never know, it maybe be harder than what you expected or it may be easier than you thought it would be.

I did .

Then if I can’t “know” about those majors, then the music-bashers can’t know about that either. It goes both ways.

^^ exactly the point I was trying to get across

Well then the music-bashers would have to agree with that, but some of them don’t seem to.

You can’t know the major entirely, but STEM majors are not the only tough thing. It’s a thing I’ve heard in numerous places and many people agree music is one of the hardest, if not THE hardest.

Where? I was reading a thread on here from 2009 and it was rotating between engineering flavors and architecture for the hardest.

I would imagine music to be very difficult but I can’t base my opinion off of your post because you don’t really know how hard it is yet. don’t get so defensive when you have nothing to back you up. I know obnoxious people can get to you, but really, calm down.

It’s a common opinion, but maybe you guys really do go to a university where music is a joke and it’s a crappy program. At good music schools though, it’s a whole different thing. I’m sorry you might go to a school with nothing for a music program. The thread from 2009 was probably just a bunch of you engineering people on it.

It’s a fact though that music is hard because of the time commitment with practicing. The difficulty of the actual courses though may be subject to the rigor of the school’s program. If anyone is going to get good at it, it requires a lot of time and that’s what makes it hard for sure.

UA Kid, read through my long post, the “essay.” There’s one link on there (and the quote that I inserted into my post) where an Engineering major says Music is harder…please read.

shrugs well at least I tried to douse the fire
You both look stupid and arrogant trying to defend your major right now. someone else’s opinion over the internet shouldn’t matter this much. but I guess this is how forums work…
goes back to death note
