How is everyone doing with their essays?

how did you fit 800 words on the front and back of one page? haha. mine are like 200 and 150…

urbanflop aren’t you just applying to Exeter?

Or are there two Exeter essays?

@musictrinity I don’t know. My writing is usually big but I guess I made it smaller. The essays both fit on the front and back of the page. I had alot to talk about…

@Blueraven There are 2 essays for Exeter and they must both be typed. You also have to write both of them on the sheet with the essay prompts–using the front and back of the paper.

I’m planning to just write really small. :stuck_out_tongue:
I love Exeter’s essay prompts.

I know bunnywins they were really easy for me to do.
22,17,15,11,5,

hahaha oh my gosh i fail, i’ve been on this forum since '08 and i’m not even applying this year due to extreme procrastination (i missed the SSAT deadlines, 3 times… andover screwed me over, long story, don’t ask)

@ RadInPlaid : don’t worry, i think it was Istoleyournose! from 09 who started and finished his essay 2 hours before the deadline or something. he’s now a frosh at exeter~

okay the worst part is, i was half-done my deerfield essay… and then i bailed on my SSATs. hahaha how ironic…

wow, DiveAlive? After all that you are not applying? :frowning: That stinks… but you can still take the SSAT’s in January!

not really :frowning: the late registration = $$ and the voucher doesn’t cover it, so my mom won’t let me. ehhh, it gives me an extra year for my ECs so it’s all good :- ) good luck to youu!

My D applies 7 schools, she is working hard on her essays, in parallel, she needs to study SSAT as well since her Dec. score is not satisfied. All app needs to be finished by early Jan., between essays and SSAT, what do you think should be the priority? Or should D give up 2-3 schools, focus on other schools which have higher possibility to be accepted. Actually all 7 schools are top ones.
Time is so less, limited.

I would limit them. I’m only applying to 5 and I don’t have to worry about SSAT, it’s less stressful for me…

I’m applying to three schools! Essays: I’m trying to do (on Christmas!). Pending SSAT scores, prob won’t spend money to retake.

Haven’t started, its all good though :)

asdfjkl; I am like the hugest procrastinator ever. I’ll probably have Document 1 open on my laptop like 24/7 but only start 2 minutes before the deadline. WHOOOOO 8D

@lovepig Speaking from experience, I’d say for her to focus on her essays 100%. The SSATs really aren’t a big deal at all-- as long as she’s in the 80s-90s percentile, she’s good. Time wasted doing extra study for the SSATs could be better spent on showing her personality through the essays  Also, like Blue said, I think your D should limit them to around 5. I’m applying to 4 and MAN IT FEELS GOOD. Haha.

“I am like the hugest procrastinator ever. I’ll probably have Document 1 open on my laptop like 24/7 but only start 2 minutes before the deadline.”

Hahaha THAT IS SO ME!!!

YEEEES. Fellow just-before-deadliner! For the SSATs, I only started studying the morning of the test, haha.

My parents think I’m writing my Choate essays right now…which I HAVE had progress on, of course. I copy-pasted the questions into a Word document. :'D

How much have you guys done?

Nothing. At all. and besides one practice test i didn’t revise for the SSAT. Everyone said I’d reget it but I don’t at all :D

that’s EXACTLY what i did! And whoahhh Blue, I thought I procrastinated. I actually sent in all candidate profiles just yesterday.

seriously some of these essay topics. ‘how do you see yourself contributing to the community’ you can’t bloody well write that in 500 characters D: I keep wondering if it’s a trick question of something glahhh

@lovepig: i would focus on the essays
@tuesday: that’s exactly what i’ve done all day today LOL!!!
i still havn’t sent in my deerfiled profile :stuck_out_tongue:
i hate that essay topic with a passion!!!

I dislike St Paul’s “how will you find common ground with a person that’s your polar opposite” question.

I want to write “I wouldn’t. It is a hopeless endeavor.” But I don’t have the balls to do it.

Oh, neither have I, no worries. Filled it out yesterday but since it’s Christmas there’s no mail. Deerfield’s so old-fashioned, it must be the only school still with a paper profile…:P

And SAAAME here. I wanna headdesk every time I see the question. Ugh ugh ugh. How do you start it without looking like you’re praising yourself?? ‘I think my dashingly good looks and charm will contribute to your school’s severe lack in the dating pool’ xD
