How Is Holiday Shopping Going?

I just have one pair of boots left and I’m done. I try to get lists early and then purchase just about everything during Thanksgiving week when it’s all on sale. Just missed that one pair of boots so I’m on the hunt. Lots of wrapping ahead of me but I’m very happy to be done.

Nothing here either. :open_mouth:

Where’s a good place to get leggings, possibly in some fun prints? My daughter wants some but I don’t wear them so don’t know where to shop for them and would like something better than what’s at Target.

I keep holding out on the remainder of my list of things to purchase hoping some of it goes on sale. At some point, I’ll have to pull the plug and order but we’re not at that stage yet and I’m still holding out hope and being optimistic. I hate paying full retail price.

Did get lucky with one today. The very obscure item my son wants was marked down from $139 to $119 and then I got a 25% off coupon through email today making the price I paid just $89.25 and free shipping. I felt vindicated on waiting.

Shopping online sure makes the process easy, though.

@Wellspring Take a look at HUE. They have tons of leggings, although I’m more familiar with their tights as it is a brand my daughter likes. 25% off and free shipping but it ends tonight.

@Wellspring , my daughters love the leggings in Kohls junior department.

I finished my kids yesterday. Got fil in done, mil is mostly done, just buying her a robe. 2 nephews just get video games. I haven’t started on hubby. But I do sit and make a list and think it through, then just go and get it - or get it online. I just need one or two more ideas for him. His birthday is right before Christmas which adds to the dilemma. He’s in his 50’s and still scarred from a childhood of forgotten or passed over birthdays. He said when he saw 16 candles it was like a documentary for him - lol His parents forgot his birthday or just gave him an early Christmas present.

I can sympathize with the holiday birthday thing. My birthday is Christmas Eve. As a child we would celebrate my birthday in the afternoon and then it was over and time to celebrate Christmas Eve instead.

Still don’t really receive birthday gifts separate from Christmas gifts.

I think every Christmas birthday person should get a half birthday celebration - gifts, cake, special dinner, the whole shebang.

Yes, I’d announce it to my family and start celebrating it. I’d remind them ahead of time, order cake (the most important part!), and start a new tradition.

@kiddie Celebrate your half birthday instead

Suddenly easier. D2 found Dre Beats on Groupon, is confident of the product and we ordered. The family dinner is on the 29th (when all are free,) and D2/partner will be here on the 24th and part of the 25th. (D1 and bf will be away.)

I ordered a salad bowl for D1 from a great artsy craftsman friend (just a mom gift.) Now, on to smaller surprises.

Whew.

Still haven’t bought a thing and have zero ideas or motivation. A death in the family has thrown us for a loop. Now this week is full of other responsibilities. I really feel at a loss. I hope some grand revelation descends on me by mid month.

Is “Glaaaahhh!” an acceptable answer to this question, which is reminding me of how close to Christmas it is?

Just ordered two of these cute backpacks that H and I really like and think our kids will get great use of for travel. There was one in stock at Sam’s Club last night, so we were able to check it out and see whether we really liked it and wanted to buy more.

The price at other sites including Amazon.com is much higher. The bag zips down so you can easily open it up and pack quite a bit into the bag. It has a sleeve so you can slide it onto the handle of your suitcase as well. Even with being charged for $4 shipping, it was still very reasonable–under $30 per bag!

@psychmomma, I’m very sorry about the loss you have suffered.

@Wellspring, my D’s have always liked lulu lemon leggings which have been prior holiday gifts as they are pricey. This year, D2 said she likes Victoria Secret legging more so each D is getting a pair from there.

I ordered the very last gift yesterday. Hanukah starts on the 12th and we leave on a family vacation on the 10th so less ability to wait. Plus, I really hate paying full retail so I’m pretty diligent about getting things during the week of Thanksgiving when there are so many sales.

Done with gifts, on to cookie baking.

Saw this and thought it pertinent.

Cookies! >:D<

I’m trying to come up with a different gifting style. Over the years, I enjoyed giving quirky fun gifts to my kids. Now we’re really cutting back on physical gifts, so it’s gift cards to places relevant to them, and practical gifts. I went into our town shops today searching for some fun stocking stuffers, because I can’t entirely let go of the quirky thing. I bought a tiny Superman button for my DC comic book loving son. I wanted to buy him a vintage “MAD” comic, but they weren’t really that old.

Bought fancy olive oil for my D’s BF’s mom, because she’s a food person.

Even last year, when we started cutting back, once the gifts were wrapped they looked great under the tree. This year it’s pretty sparse.

I’m done shopping but I was looking at popsockets. (grip for your phone)
