@raclut I saw those today, and didn’t know what they were!
I need a do-over. I’ve now bought one gift for D, one for H, and zero for two Ss and all the nieces and nephews. I am super happy that H bought himself some of his favorite (inexpensive) things and I get to wrap those for under the tree. My dilemma is S, 19. He wants nothing. He is a very simple living sort- really has no wants or needs. But he should have a few things, I’m hoping for 3, to unwrap.
Moving has derailed some of my holiday prep. Trying to find space for the tree in the new place – D1 is coming tomorrow, and I think she can help move things around and get it up. Cookies seem daunting – what box are the cookie sheets in??
Good luck! My grandfather used to say that one move equals two fires. We are still digging stuff out of boxes!
Our tree is sittig pretty in its pot by the front door… We will bring it in just in time for Christmas and just long enough to last until Christmas 2.0. Then it will be planted outside!
Gift wise, I am about 50% done.
@psychmomma What about an experience gift. Once we got mile high glider ride. Shows or concerts he might like. A gift basket of his favorite foods. A family recipe book.
@intparent Purchase the cookies.
Warm socks are useful and practical and good ones are actually a luxury many won’t buy for themselves.
^Smartwool. You could spend $100 on good quality baselayers. Silk or wool. Or a Gortex jacket. Things you wouldn’t buy for yourself.
What HImom said. Cashmere socks are heavenly, but I am too cheap to pay for a pair… I keep stealing Mr’s that someone gifted to him.
@BunsenBurner, you’d think he’d get a clue what you want for a present!
Thorlo socks are great. Icebreaker makes amazing clothing that keeps folks nice and toasty. A nice warm cap is always useful (bought one for each kid). Gourmet coffee, tea or hot chocolate is a nice treat.

What are his interests/hobbies? Music tastes? Likes to travel, be outdoors? Tell us more about him, @psychmomma.
Finished Chanukah shopping yesterday (yes, I know I’m a little late for the start of the holiday, but we were away when it started). S2 already got his Stubhub gift card so he can go to games of his beloved Wizards. Yesterday I bought S2 membership in a craft beer club (thanks to the CCer who mentioned that as a gift), and DIL got a gift certificate to a local spa (as a new mom, I figured she could use some quiet pampering).
I think I have most everything done except picking up some gift cards. Not a thing wrapped though!
Almost done, just have to get a couple of gift cards and the scratch off lottery stocking stuffers.
Working on the wrapping today.
Finally got a wish list from H. Yay!
D and SIL were here this weekend, but will not be home for Christmas. She needed some paper for wrapping and I have no Christmas gift wrap in the house so she used some Hanukkah paper I had on hand. So maybe I need to get some paper too…
TJ Maxx/Home Goods has GREAT wrapping paper at a good price. Really great patterns and the paper tends to be thicker/durable. Also great wrapping sides like bags, ribbon, tags, etc. If you didn’t get stuff 50% or more at the end of last year TJ/HG is a good place to still get it fairly inexpensive
Wrapped the gifts for my daughter yesterday. When she comes this week- we will wrap the rest together.
Yesterday, in the car trunk, I found the new roll of wrapping paper I’d bought last yesr.
^ Wow, you don’t use your trunk much huh? LOL
