How is penn state altoona??

Hello guys.

I want to know how is penn state altoona for the first 2years of undergraduation. (business school)

Please post some of your thoughts and experiences.

Much appreciated
Thank you

I have no experience at Penn State Altoona, but know that students who attend PSU’s satellite campuses are happy.

You must want to post this question on the Penn State forum if you want responses to speak to their experiences. Even so, once students are enrolled, they rarely have time to come back on CC to comment.

But you will be okay at Altoona. Congratulations.

Thank you…
I too hope that… However I have the 2+2 plan which means I will be going to university park after couple of years.

I m a bit wotried about the diversity though as one of my friend told me that majority of students are white Christians and I may have some problem adjusting as I m from india.

BT as u say altoona is good I m planning to go to altoona. However still a tough decision to choose btw asu Tempe and penn keeps on haunting me all the time

You will be fine. Those “white Christians” will accept you. Most of them attended high schools with classmates from India.

Are you saying you have been accepted at Temple and the university of Penn as well? Although Temple is in the city, which might appeal to you, it doesn’t have the reputation that Penn State does.

Altoona is not that far from main campus. I would expect that kids drive to main campus on the weekends, so you will probably be able to get a ride.

Yah arizona state University Tempe.

I m glad to hear that that people would be friendly.

I will be living on the campus and I have already deposited the enrollment fee. I m just checking if asu is better than penn or not… I m basically doing a major in finance and well penn ranks toooo good in that.

So only dilemma is penn altoona or asu Tempe.?
Would the 2 years at altoona be really worth it… I like any other student want to make the best out of it…

Sent from my GT-I9300 using CC

By the way, you can’t call it Penn. When you say Penn, it will be assumed you are referring to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Either refer to it as Penn State, or PSU. :)

Yes, the two years at Altoona would be worth it. There are thousands of other kids who go the 2 + 2 route, so you will be in good company. Penn State is a highly respected institution with a large alumni association that aids in networking for jobs and internships. It is much better than Arizona State.

I m happy to hear that…

And yah penn state… XD

Hope I would have some great time at the altoona for the first 2 years and an opportunity to explore various world’s.

Yeah, Rapsaps, I’m glad you feel comfortable with your decision to attend Penn State Altoona. After you arrive on campus, you’ll wonder why you even questioned it. Try to remember to come back in August and tell me how much you like it. :)

Sure mate…

I m so glad that u came up and helped me.
Between it would be great if u can tell me about u.
Are u a parent or a student?

I’m a parent. I hope that’s not disappointing. ;)

My husband has a grad degree from Penn State, and I would have been happy if either of our kids would have gone to PSU, but they wanted a different setting.

No mam that’s not disappointing at all.

Yes I do hope I will go to altoona and will surely let u know about the campus life for sure…

:-)

My uncle talked to then and they said in order to get to university park one has to keep his grades higher. I need to maintain a gpa of 3.5 if I want to go to the main campus.

Now that’s something I didn’t expected and that’s really disappointing to hear…

Any suggestions?

That doesn’t sound right. My neighbor was accepted to Penn State on the 2 + 2 program, and she did not have that requirement. She will start on main campus this fall.

Look at your acceptance. If it doesn’t say anything about a GPA requirement, then you don’t have one. You could also contact the admissions office and verify it yourself.

I think your uncle misunderstood.

Idk… He said that it is required to take 8 courses… It is infact compulsory.
Secondly, he said that it is required to get at least 3. 0 gpa… And if there are too many people forthe main campus. Then the people having the better and high gpa will get admitted. If u have 3.5 gpa then u r guaranteed having a transfer to the main campus… Or else not…

I m in a dilemma.
Is there a chance u can give me the id of ur neighbours child so that I can contact him.
I m in such a problem

@Rapsaps u went to Altoona ? If so … hows ur experience ?
