So I know it’s a multiple choice section…
then a break…
…then two essays…

Right?

And the whole thing is out of 1_ _ ?

How many points from M/C (and is it x1.2?) and the essays?

Thanks.

The MC portion is weighted as 100 points and each FR is recalculated to equal 25 points each depending on how many points each FR question is worth.

So for the MC is it:
(total number right * 1.2)-(.25* total number wrong)=x/100?

How many MC ?s are there?

No, there are 100 MC questions and each is worth one single point and there is no recalculation. It’s simply: (MC SCORE) - (Questions missed * 1/4) = X/100

Ah I see.

How much time do we have for each section?

Sorry, I’m kinda uninformed haha.

It’s perfectly ok. XD

Total Time: 2 Hours + Break Time

MC Section: 70 Minutes

Break Time

FR Section: 50 Minutes to write two essays

So is it okay to write each essay in just one longish paragraph? I honestly haven’t even looked at a sample essay yet…and I’m curious as to how they grade it. Do they look at grammar at all…or just like key words or something?

The essay is graded purely on finding the key ideas and words that you write in the essay. It’s very exact, it looks for you to specify exact things and gives you points based solely on information. The sample essay I’ve looked at has some essay-like organization, and uses a paragraph to address each subquestion in the essay.

Mmmkay…I suppose that’s all of my questions for now! Thank you!

Oh! so…do you have a guesstimate to what the essays may be about this year?

Not a clue to be honest, I’m beginning to work through the essays from past years today, so I don’t really have an idea of what they’ve used lately yet.

mmkay! I think I may start another thread for people to guess…this isn’t against the rules of collegeboard…right?

Nah, APUSH speculations were going weeks before testing began. Speculation isn’t against the rules, just make sure after the test people don’t go on the board proclaiming that their prediction was right. lol

kk thank you for all your help!
