<p>How is Shepherd University (formally Shepherd College) in West Virginia?</p>
<p>Is it a good school overall in terms of academics, job and grad school placement, social life, etc?</p>
<p>I ask this as it appears at the current time I will be going there next year.</p>

<p>Shepherd is in a nice little town in a great area
(on the Potomac up-river from Washington, near the Appalachian Trail crossing).
There ought to be plenty of good internship opportunities, whether you want to work in D.C., with the park service out in the hills, or at a Civil War site. There also is a lot of high tech business nearby in the Dulles airport area. Students graduate in a wide mix of Liberal Arts and pre-professional fields (such as nursing, parks & recreation, business, accounting, and education).</p>
<p>Shepered wasn’t my first choice but after visiting I certainly wouldn’t mind going there.</p>
