How is the “Aggie” network for ppl interested in Engineering? And what is the “2%”?

Do you mean 2 percenter?

The aggie network for engineering is great. Speaking from first hand, we have many companies that look specifically at A&M just to hire people straight out of school. Many engineering students here have multiple job offers before even graduating, and they get these offers through internships they received as an undergrad. Our bi-annual engineering career fair, one of the biggest student-run in the nation, brings thousands of companies to the school just specifically looking to hire interns, co-ops, and graduates. I myself have an interview on campus with Lockheed-Martin next week for an internship position.

And 2% is just a way of representing the so-called “2%” of Aggies who don’t show Aggie spirit.

^thanks for the replies.

I was told, however, that the “2%” are those that are considered “different” b/c they are not conservative or something of the sort.

The 2 percenters are the ones who don’t participate in the Aggie traditions. The traditions have nothing to do with politics.

It comes from a survey that the campus newspaper did a long time ago that asked about student involvement in things like going to football games and whatnot. Only 2% did not participate, so it has come to reference those students. It is used lovingly, though! I most frequently hear it used when people are talking about themselves eg: “Yeah, I didn’t go to Silver Taps last night so I could play my new video game. What can I say… I’m a 2 percenter!”
