I’m doing an investigative piece on this for a HS newspaper. Currently topics we’re thinking of doing are inflation + affect on student loans.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For recent college grads, it might be a boon since housing prices are unusually low right now.

Go see the other current thread regarding your question for some opinions.

oh i didn’t realize that there was another thread about this… ty! :)

watching our high school senior’s college account lose money, watching our ability to pay our FAFSA level erode to the Not Possible point. Wondering if the home equity in our house is something we should continue to access…or if we should cut that out with home valuation declines –

thanks! I hope everything works out for you!

My kids both work in the nonprofit world, asking folks for donations.

Hope they continue to have jobs…

In chaos there is opportunity …

I was wondering about donations to colleges and nonprofits in general Garland. As a volunteer fund raiser for my schools and all sorts of organizations I have seen real cycles over the years, but the last decade has been super charged with million dollar plus donations common place from certain world centers that have just been hit hard. Far less income (and more taxes), less money to shelter. Nonprofits will no doubt be hard hit.

I wonder how schools will keep their new FA commitments, how medical research will be effected at a time of amazing breakthroughs, church donations when needs are exploding.

We live in an affluent area where there are lots of little local fundraisers for the local elder care facility, school trips, etc. There has been a noticed drop in attendance at these things and the big ticket auction items have been going cheaper. It will definitely affect some of the nonprofits in our area.

“Luckily” my S also has started playing poker professionally. that may skyrocket…

In terms of intellectual development it’s been very positive. DD2, never a big nonfiction fan, has become fierce about reading the newspaper every morning. She seems fascinated by the meltdown.

I discovered my HS senior D digging in her closet last night, pulling out some of her gently used designer duds to post on ebay, I think she saw the opened statement that was on the kitchen table…

thanks for the responses!
