How is the house selling season going?

art - I think as long as a coop doesn’t have specific rule about not able to do something, it can’t be the ground for evicting someone or sue for damages. I don’t think I have ever heard of someone who says at the board interview, “No, I don’t entertain at home,” then throw a major party to be evicted from a coop.

Classof2015–our last house, we had termites swarming out of some woodwork the afternoon of a showing. I cancelled the showing & called the exterminator. Then (same house) the air conditioner/heat pump died just before we closed. It was a brutally hot summer so we couldn’t ignore the problem. Wish we had known about the statue…:D

Class, here ya go.

emilybee – you’re killing me  I just ordered 12 statues. Because more is better, right? I think I’ll bury them all in little tiny leggings to update their look so I get current value on the house. The drape-y fabric thing is so 565 AD.

mommusic – I can believe it – it’s like all these problems lie in wait and the second they see your house on the market, they pounce. Just hoping the roof holds up!

“I just ordered 12 statues.”

Class, my Italian MIL would approve.

OMG – that’s a sign – I’m making pasta fazool and baked ziti with fresh mozzarella. This house will sell in no time!

LOL Class! And yum.

I think you are suppose to put the statue upside down. The reason I know is that my FIL was trying to sell his house around Hartford and nothing was happening. His sister put a statue of St Joseph upside down in front of his yard and it was sold soon after.

Classof2015, your posts are cracking me up.

oldfort:

Won’t all the blood rush to his head?

hayden – glad I can bring a smile – it’s nervous energy – or too much Halloween candy!

Not too sure those statues would have worked in my late dad’s largely orthodox jewish neighborhood.

But jym, it’s like the Psychotherapy thread – Can’t hurt, might help.

Just thought I’d let y’all know that 12 St. Joseph statues arrived yesterday at my semi-listed home (thank you, Amazon Prime!) and first thing I did was name them (Joe, Joe Jr., Joey, JJ, Jose, Se

LOL
I had never heard of this until my next door neighbor sold a week after planting statues in his yard. Totally stupid magical thinking. I would totally try it.

Kind of feel like I’m in Twilight Zone here. House is “listed” (we signed) but H has been slow to clear out stuff so we haven’t had the photographer in to take photos so hence it is not on MLS and thus nobody knows about it! Except you guys.

So I made an appointment for the photographer to come in this Friday and I am going to take a day off from work to make sure H lets him in. And I will clean all Thursday night and Friday morning and if it isn’t clean or decluttered enough, we can always move junk from one corner to another for a good shot.

Judging by the other photos he’s done for this realtor, he could make me look like Scarlett Johansson.

“Judging by the other photos he’s done for this realtor, he could make me look like Scarlett Johansson.”

I like that. :)

Update: I postponed photos to Monday. Even getting up an hour early before work to clean clean clean, I still need more time. H’s job today is regrouting where the backsplash meets the countertop and cleaning out the dining room (which serves as his desk 364 days a year).

Question for those who have done this recently: when they came to photograph your house, which rooms did they include (and exclude)? I’m thinking living room, dining room, kitchen and at least 1 full bath (whichever is the nicest one) but not necessarily every single room in the house, right? Oh and master bedroom and all other bedrooms.

I’m hoping they leave out our grungy basement. It’s not exactly a selling point.

Class, my sister’s photo’s left out 3 bedrooms (only showed the master,) the big bathroom, and the finished basement and bath.

Her realtor’s thinking was that if you show every room fewer people come to see the house.

My thinking is, what are they hiding? Why don’t they want me to see it?

Especially if it is a bathroom or kitchen… it tells me, “this needs a full tear-out renovation.”
