How is the house selling season going?

Costco sells them, too. Used them for the wedding so that we could see what was getting tossed in the trash and to rescue napkins, silverware, etc.

My house is semi-listed!!!

What that means is this: our realtor (who has been ultra-patient and shown us tons of listings and waited patiently while H said he would get it ready by July. Then August. Then September) finally said “let’s just sign the papers but we won’t show it 'til you’re ready.”

I said “come over now”. And she did. So we signed.

Because the big delay has been H “going through things”. He keeps saying in order to remove the mound of clutter in the living room, library, basement, etc., he needs to go through things.

My response is: actually, no you don’t. You just have to move it from Point A (our house) to Point B (storage facility). You can go through it later.

Because I am convinced (maybe I’m wrong) that since there is ZERO inventory in our town now and rates are still relatively low, we will do better listing it vs. waiting 'til the “spring selling season” when there is more competition (more inventory) and rates might be higher.

So I am semi-hopeful! I’ll keep y’all semi-posted :)

Congrats!!!

I was wondering where this thread went!

Congrats, Class! +++++ you have a buyer real soon.

And I will update the info on my sister’s house.

After taking her house off the market and doing a 12K kitchen reno she put it on again, at the same price, about a month or so ago, Had an offer after the first week and after a week or so of back and forth, got the deal she wanted. Contract was signed about two weeks ago and they close at the end of November.

They have rented a beautiful house, with a pool, twice as big as her present house, in Norwalk, Ct (near the New Canaan border) and seems extremely happy with her decision.

c2015,

^^ By any chance your H got on to the TV show “Hoarders”? :)

Artloversplus…

You told me in the million dollar home thread this house would not sell for much more than 1 million…

Sold for 1.25 million.

[1911 LEXINGTON Ave, San Mateo, CA 94402 | MLS# 81322159 | Redfin](http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Mateo/1911-Lexington-Ave-94402/home/1676504)

Price in San Mateo county went hay-wild recently. Anything could happen.

We closed and moved this week. It was a 9 month process. We currently are in the process of trying to find our pillows. We think they are some where in one of those 20 wardrobe boxes.

I negotiated for the seller to leave his two mega flat screen TVs. H said he is hating them, but I am good.

Congrats oldfort.

That 1.25 million dollar house costs $325,000 around here!

Oldfort
How was the interview? Any drama to report?:)

Never mind TX, if you move that house 20 miles on hiway 92 across the bridge, price is half or less.

No big drama. Toward the end of interview someone said, “Are you aware of the assessment we have to fix the facade of the building in order to meet the city code?” I wanted to ask what was the assessment, how much and how long. H knew me well and he was also aware that if we were too negative then we may not be approved. He jumped in to say, “I am sure the board is doing what is necessary for the building and we would always be supportive of any improvement which is required to meet the city code.”

They asked if we played any musical instrument. We said no, but we now have a baby grand in our living room. Our kids played, but we don’t. our kids technically no longer live with us.

Thanks jym626 and emilybee! I feel your good thoughts coming my way :)

artloversplus – funny – I think that show is BASED on my H!

oldfort – good job acing the co-op interview. A friend of mine recently went through it. Question: do you entertain?
My friend wanted to say: no. We have no friends. Or family.

But her husband jumped in with something like “we prefer to go out – there are so many good restaurants…”

I have never been a realtor in NYC so i have a question: what happen if the board caught you lied in the interview? For example, in oldfort case, you said you don’t play instruments but actually you do.

Do they kick you out afterwards or fine you?

I didn’t lie because I really don’t play the piano. My kids played, but they are technically not tenants of the building. If an apartment building prohibits pets/washer dryer, you could be fined and required to remove pets/WD.

Oldfort

I did not say you lied. But suppose had tou lied on the instrument playing, what would be the penalty?

Less than 24 hours after signing with the realtor, I leave for work through the basement and there’s water everywhere. Hot water tank is shot. Our plumber is coming in tomorrow to replace it.

I’m trying to see this as a positive – a brand new hot water heater with a 10 year warranty!!!

Just please don’t let anything else break while the house is on the market. Who am I praying to? Who’s the patron saint of real estate? Donald Trump? Eww…

Oy, just what you didn’t need.

Isn’t there a saint statue that people bury in their yards when trying to sell their house?

Really? Where do they sell them? Home Depot? Please tell me :)
