No kidding. Jerks. They already ****ed off the oil delivery co so will have to find a new one
Ask me if I care.

dufay, those hgtv shows are sometimes amazing. My favorite is one of the house hunting shows where the narrator says something like “Phil and Jill have a house they love, but now it’s just too small. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, but now - they’re expecting a baby, so they need more room”. Really? Really ??

" It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, but now - they’re expecting a baby, so they need more room". Really? Really ??"

:)

My mother watches those shows and every time some young 20 something couple must have granite, cherry, hardwood, etc., I hear all about how they grew up and sharing rooms & the whole litany. She gets so frustrated with their must have lists.

Or the “I can’t live with these kitchen counters” or “white cabinets…I don’t think so” or “I really want a pool”… It is scary to hear how they prioritize.

Around here everyone wants Plantation shutters. The house we are selling has the most amazing deck with an expensive canvas cover over part of it and a ceiling fan. We pointed that out to our realtor as a huge selling feature (which is a big reason we bought the house 5 1/2 years ago…), and all she could say was “well, you’re competing with houses that have Plantation shutters!” The other big debate around here is whether the master bedroom is “up” or “down”. There are people who want it down (if kids are older) but with young kids they want all the bedrooms up. I’m never moving again, so this is the last time I deal with this!

Yeah…selling and moving is a pain…

Hmmmmmm… :)

We are in the market to buy in Manhattan. I am a pretty specific person. I spell out exactly what I am looking for, price range, location, when need to close. We don’t even have any contingency. You would think those realtors would be all over me. Nope. Business must be good.

Oldfort…that is amazing.

Oldfort, you are doing what i am plan to do!!! Never thought i’d consider it, but in las 2 years, DW and i plan to either come back to NYC( lived in burbs in nearby NJ previously),or move into another east coast city(boston, philly, etc)… Gotta get D3 out first, though only in middle school

We only have 2 kids. One is working in NYC, the younger one is going to a school in NY state come Aug. I don’t see any reason why we should live in a burb any more. We are not going to get anything big (2 or convertible 3). I want to get up at 7 and be at work by 8, have brunch with friends on weekends, shop at Bloomies and BG, and see ballet and broadway shows every once in a while. Oh, have D1 over for dinner every once in a while.

Oldfort,
Sounds good to me…

oldfort,

so where you want to be? West or Esat side. I guess west side Licoln Center CPW would be good. Used to live behind Carnegie and that 7th Ave. night life was great except after midnight, there were a LOT of walkers, hoping that has been cleaned up.

I want to be able to go to great restaurants without driving into city, museums, sporting events and neighborhood watering holes…3 D’s, 1 in college,1 about to be, other middle school, so plans are on hold for at least 6 years. :(

Oldfort, i have a friend who’s spouse has passed, who may be listing penthouse at CPW, great view of Central Park, great restaurants closeby…i met J Seinfeld and Steve Martin there a few years back

Looks like if a person is an all cash buyer…there are opportunities…

We want to be around Lincoln center, Sutton Place, Beekman and upper East side. Chelsea is very hot now, Union Square is too NYU, downtown still reminds me too much of Sep '11. H is more of a downtown person and I like uptown better (quieter).

qdogpa - not sure if we could afford your friend’s place.
If you want to PM me their listing or contact info when they are ready, we may be interested.

Oldfort, i will do that if it comes up in near future…i loved watching the ballons being blown up for Thanksgiving Day parade outside their builiding, the night before the parade…

Those room without a view is much cheaper, even on CPS, just a thought./

I always thought that retiring to a NYC apartment with a doorman and elevator would be perfect. We’ll never be able to afford it unfortunately.
