This is so frustrating.
Figured that they would just keep playing the waiting game until you’re left with nothing but students whose only options are to go to UCI.
So if uci is the only option, they get in?
I would ASSUME the strongest candidates among the few that would remain
Everyone hear the news? Called UCI, they said they are not using the waitlist indefinitely, so it’s not updated and they need approval from the administrations office to officially declare that they are not using the waitlist.

Pretty much. They basically told me that we are on a like a hiatus, and they could pull somebody off but they would rather not string us along and get our hopes any longer. I told them I was a Freshman, so yes Freshman.
Likely that no one is getting accepted, yes.

Dear all, as a parent of two graduating seniors (twins), I have witnessed first-hand what you have been through, in this whole college admission process (the ups and downs, hope, despair, anxiety… and everything in between. All of the UC’s are not making it any easier for you, especially Irvine. It seems they are more interested in building up their stats and reputation, then helping young people. But you know you are smart, and committed to your plans and dreams. I am sure you will do just fine few years down the road - there are many other options. Just keep at it. Best journey to all of you!
After reading the all the posts on this thread I have to finally say please try not to take these admissions decisions personally. For all your hard work there will still be other equal or better opportunity out there. My own path into a UC long ago was to spend one more year at home, walking daily with a stack of books to Community College. That was the first year I got straight A’s and built my confidence for what was to come. It does not matter where you start but how you finish. The UC admissions was brutal this year and remember they don’t really know you or your passion, so be proud for all that you have accomplished so far and keep all your heads held up high!

any email from UCI will be a good news from now on because they won’t send any rejection email.

Keep in mind that the waitlist is created to benefit the UC campuses (better control over yield), not to benefit the students. It’s time to move on with your life. Go forth and make the absolute best experience you can at the college that welcomed you with open arms!”

they replied me on fb msg: it is unlikely for freshmen. Transfers have been notified.
