How is this possible????

Ok so I just took the act in September and I am flabbergasted by the scores I received. Every practice test that I took, all were graded and timed correctly, I got over a 31. But for some unknown reason I got a 27C on this test… How can that even happen?

Is there one section that is a lot lower than you expected?

@intparent they were all lower than my norm, but science overall was the lowest compared to my practice tests. I normally would score a 33, 34, or sometimes a 35 in that section and I got a 25 this time around. I’m beginning to wonder if I bubbled in my answers wrong, but I doubt that.

That is a pretty big gap, could be a bubbling problem on that section. Where did you get practice tests? The quality of prep materials does vary…

@intparent I studied out of the real act prep and Barron’s, but I didn’t use their practice tests; instead I went to crackact and used their recent ones.

I assume you will take again… Use the Real ACT ones this time.

@intparent I’m debating whether or not I should pick up some SAT books and study for the Nov. SAT test to see how I do on that?

Are you a senior? You could do that. Get the blue SAT prep book from CollegeBoard and try a practice test from that. I have always thought that studying for one (ACT or SAT) still helps with the other anyway.

@intparent Nope! Luckily I’m only a Junior.

Oh, no sweat then. I mean, a bummer still, but it would be anxiety producing if you were a senior. Why don’t you target taking it after winter break, when you might get some uninterrupted study time?

Don’t worry too much about science. I, too, was getting above 33s and then i got a 29 on this one. I just had to get english and reading to carry me (both 35). I think you should retake the act. SAT isnt that hard… I actually thought the ACT was easier but it differs for everyone. Good luck!
