I’m just curious to see how every college forms their email addresses.

Kenyon’s format is last name, first initial @ Kenyon, or <a href=“mailto:doej@kenyon.edu ”>doej@kenyon.edu,
while friends at other schools have addresses more like <a href=“mailto:john.b.doe@mascotmail.schoolname.edu ”>john.b.doe@mascotmail.schoolname.edu which I think is ridiculous and overly complicated.

What about your school?

This board lacks text editing options…

<a href=“mailto:initials+number@collegeName.edu ”>initials+number@collegeName.edu
or
<a href=“mailto:firstName.middleInitial.lastName.numberIfDuplicate@collegeName.edu ”>firstName.middleInitial.lastName.numberIfDuplicate@collegeName.edu

Uncheck the “Automatically parse links in text” to post a longer address.

some schools allow students to pick their own but recommend comment formats like first initial-last <a href=“mailto:name@school.edu ”>name@school.edu
other schools use the last name followed by a portion of your student ID

<a href=“mailto:firstname.lastname@students.olin.edu ”>firstname.lastname@students.olin.edu

<a href=“mailto:whatever-you-happen-to-choose@mit.edu ”>whatever-you-happen-to-choose@mit.edu :)

Mine is first initial then last part of last name. Mine doesn’t have a number, but some people do have one at the end.

<a href=“mailto:FirstInitialPartOfLastName@utk.edu ”>FirstInitialPartOfLastName@utk.edu

<a href=“mailto:lastnamefirstinitalmiddleinital@servername.schoolname.edu ”>lastnamefirstinitalmiddleinital@servername.schoolname.edu
People with long last names (like mine) have letters cut off so the whole string is 10 characters, and people with common names have numbers in theirs.

[Edit: There is not a space between the n and the a, it’s just formating oddly]
