I know there’s no limit, but I’m afraid I’m getting carried away. Haha. Mine is about 3 pages, single-spaced, but I think it carries your attention pretty well.

What are your lengths?

My two short answers are two paragraph each, but each are about 300-400 words. I wonder if that’s too long. I have yet to write the long essay. I can’t think of anything to write about.

I haven’t done the short answers yet, but knowing my style, they’ll probably be anything but short. Haha. I’ll have to, like, write seven pages and start cutting.

both short essays were a page long single spaced. my extended was 4 pages long, single spaced, small font, with no margins on the top and sides. i was surprised when i got my letter.

“Respond to Questions 1 and 2 on the next two screens by writing a paragraph or two for each question.”

ah??!?!? where did these page-long monstrosities come from?

how did you all start your essay?

cuz for short essay #2, i’m afraid my two-paragraphs will sound too general and too…informal

and my short responses are not longer than a page double-spaced each.

i thought that was suppose to be the length …

Mine were somewhat lengthy – about 1.5~2 pages single-spaced for all three.

#1 : 818 words
#2 : 780 words
#3 : 1,104 words

Heh, mine too.
maybe a teensy bit shorter on the first two.

U of C is quite unorthodox in its essay requirements–there really is no right length. As long as you aren’t getting excessively wordy (7 pages is really too much) the essay length is fine. In fact, when I applied I was worried about it length as well until I read how much they don’t care about the length on the uncommon blog website.
