How long do you guys prepare for the SATs?

I’m a junior, taking my first SAT in March, haven’t prepared at ALL.

The general consensus is that one should begin preparing for the SAT’s at the critical age of 3 and a half years old, though some parents would probably say the sooner from the mother’s womb the better. If you began your prep at any time between those two periods, then you will do just fine.

Taking it in the Spring, haven’t prepared (except for when I took it before in middle school). Bought a study kit, will probably have to buy another, given the change in format.

I put in a half hour on my break at work the night before the test.

Took it cold.

Same. Not much that studying will do. I guess if you’re not too strong in math a quick review and then knowing the basics of how the test works (the penalty for wrong answers, etc.). I don’t think I studied at all…and don’t see how it would help me.

study…maybe

i took the sat’s 3 times (im a senior) and i must say that taking them mulitple times REALLY improves your scores. i went up over 200 points. it also helped that i took two courses - they were pretty simple and i knew most of the things already, but it was helpful to know how the tests works. if you are familiar with the SAT, its format, rules, etc. you will do a LOT better. most sat books give you the directions verbatim as the test and i recommend knowing them - it saves you a lot of time, and trust me, time is of the essence. your first SAT will SUUUUUCK, im not gonna lie. but even though its really bad, take it again. i reccommend taking it at least twice, if not three times. good times to take them would be feb, march, and june of junior year but if you are a procrastinator like me, march & june of junior year then october of senior year works out fine too.

more or less, you cant study real knowledge … just know the set up. persistence is key!

i sound so lame.
so im gonna stop.

good luuuuuck yalll

15 minutes, about, on the web site. And the math questions were totally different anyway, so it was a waste of 15 minutes.

night before. definitely study before that though…

Some people I know think the SAT is a test you can’t study for but that’s obviously not true. There are definitely tricks and “traps” to this test that if you can practice to easily recognize (especially for writing multiple choice), you are so much better off.

First time I took the test, I was lazy and only studied the night before and didn’t do too great.

When I took it again later, I read some through a small Kaplan review book (it was called 25 Lessons on the SAT or something like that) in the month before and my score improved a lot. I’m sure just taking a bunch of practice tests on your own and looking at wrong answers helps a lot too.

Junior year I took an SAT prep class at my school…so like 3 and half hours of class a week for a trimester. I didn’t take the SAT’s until like two months after the class, though, and I didn’t even look at my book during those two months. I didn’t study at all before the second time I took it.

Taking it in March, just started studying, and memorizing vocab.
I expect to get a 2200+

I studied for 4 months.

I’m a sophmore, i’m going to take it October in my junoir year, and i’ll be reviewing through out the summer.
