I probably won’t get in, but I want to at least try instead of thinking “what if” in the future. I’m applying now, going to send the application and essay tomorrow(Saturday).

About how long will it take to receive an admissions decision?

If I do get rejected which I probably will, how many credit hours should I wait before updating my transfer information?

I’m planning on taking 2-5 courses during the summer at community college, so I’m not sure if that factors into how long it takes. I want to get in my math course but I don’t think I’m going to be able to do so and that will ultimately hurt my application the most, in my opinion.

Thank you! :D

It’s really great that you are applying, but don’t ever say that you won’t get in. There is always a chance. I am a current undergraduate student at SMU and actually work for the Office of Admissions. I applied last year around this time and I got my decision back in January, but I applied early action. If you are applying early decision or early action, you should hear back from them around January or February, but if you are applying for regular admission then it will be a little bit later, usually about March or April. Again, don’t say that you will get rejected, hope in these situations is the most important thing
but if you do, I am not exactly sure how many credits are needed to transfer as a sophomore. You might want to try emailing your admissions counselor. You can find who your counselor is by going to the SMU website at this link [Meet Your Counselor - Undergraduate Admission - SMU](Counselors)
