I’m a freshman and I moved in Wednesday. Classes start Tuesday. I’ve made literally no friends but everyone around me seems to have which makes me nervous and stressed out. I very partially blame it on me not being able to drink since everyone around me these past few days seems to be going to frats and drinking or sneaking in alcohol to sit in a group and drink. I just see people having fun and hanging out and feel I’m inadequate in a way.
Will my state improve when classes and clubs start? How long does it normally take to make friends?
Of course! How did you make friends in high school? Classes and clubs, probably.
Give it some time. Not everyone drinks. You’ll find your people. Go on solo adventures…figure out how to find your way around. Discover what’s in your new town. Lots to see and learn! You’ll do just fine. No worries.
If you moved in Wednesday, are you in MRC by any chance? My daughter is there, also not going out to parties.

Hang in there, it will happen for you. Give it time. Lots of good advice about this topic in College Life.
