I feel as though it has been way too long since the job fair. I met with a variety of different employers, gave out my resume, and even filled out the online forms for the library jobs. As of the moment, absolutely no response. Did I do something wrong, or should I sit tight for a little while longer?

micL - You certainly didn’t do anything wrong. You can definitely call some of the departments or opportunities you applied to - particularly the ones you were most interested in. Some positions have been filled, while others are still in the process of hiring. It never hurts to politely follow up. Don’t just sit and wait for the job to come to you. All you have to say is something to the effect “I applied during the job fair and am very interested in working with you. May I ask where you are in the hiring process?”

Keep on applying too. Log onto ConnectSC, look in the Daily Trojan at each page/add. look at bulletin boards. Apply to all the departments, libraries, etc. (Annenberg, Thornton, Marshall, Viterbi etc…) You will find a position, but it may take some proactive searching.

Don’t get discouraged. Think of it as a challenge!
