I applied for a merit appeal and want to know how long it takes for the whole process to go about. If you have done a merit appeal at Chapman, how long did the process take and what did it look like for you?
Hello. I unfortunately do not have an answer, but am curious how you went about appealing the merit award? Is there a specific place you found information? We are currently looking into this process as well. Thank you.
I am curious whether you ever heard back? I am under the impression that the timeline depends on whether the student is also seeking need-based aid (due to the FAFSA issues).
Hello,
My son just did this. We are fortunate enough to not receive financial aid, but not rich enough that money doesn’t matter.
I read that merit requests should come from the student and financial aid requests can come from the parent. My son drafted his email and sent it. It took about three weeks to hear back, but my son received an additional $3K annually. The letter was very clear that this is the final offer and they’ve given him the maximum that they can. I’ve also read that these requests work about half the time, depending on the school.
I did some googling beforehand and this was helpful: How to Write a Financial Aid Appeal Letter (With Example) - Scholarships360
Good luck!
