How long does the test take?

This may seem like a trivial question but I’d appreciate a response. I know there are five, 35 minute sections and then a break but the LSAC website says the test can take as much as seven hours. My testing center is over an hour away in a metro area where I don’t feel comfortable driving. I’m going to be dropped off and picked up by someone else so I don’t have to drive. My question is… how long should I estimate for the length of the test? I’m going to be picked up and so I need to let the person know about when they need to be at the center.

Thanks!

I had the same situation as you (and I didn’t bring a cell phone). The first time, my ride stayed in the area and I found a phone (ended up borrowing a cell from another test-taker, though I think they’re cracking down even harder on this…payphone was my intent) to call her. Second time, I just told my ride the latest time I’d be done and then I hung around the campus for awhile (picked up lunch at the cafe and some magazines and a notebook at the bookstore…it ended up being surprisingly fun). I was done at very different times, but I don’t remember them exactly. 1 and 2:30, or 1:30 and 2:30 maybe? It varied b/c of set-up…one place I was in a huge auditorium so everything had to be done x100, while the second I was in a small classroom so everything was only done x10 or so.

You’ll almost certainly be done before 7 hours…that’s a worst-case scenario. But I’d recommend telling your ride a late-ish time and entertaining yourself in any interim. If you’re in a metro area, perhaps there are good places you can walk to and eat, buy a magazine, etc.

Good luck!

You can’t bring a cell phone, right?

… you can’t bring it into the testing area and I don’t believe there’s anywhere to stash it while you’re testing. I’m really thinking about driving myself but I would have to get there way early to make sure that I can get parking and make sure I leave enough time for traffic.

Thanks
