Just curious if anyone remembers how long it usually takes for official ACT/SAT scores to be sent to colleges? My S25 applied through common app and paid the fee to ACT for his scores to be sent on Saturday. Wasn’t sure how long till colleges receive them and his application is “complete.”
Depends on when the testing company sends. Scores are sent electronically, so that’s pretty quick. The delays are CB/ACT sending and the college actually uploading.
When I sent ACT, it arrived at my college the same day. College Board takes longer, about a week. After that, it’s up to the college to link them to your record. Most colleges download the data recieved from ACT/SAT overnight. I assume it generally is an automatic process from there getting everything sorted, but could take longer if there is a mismatch of some sort that a human needs to sort out.
Interesting. Maybe today they will show up since they were requested on Saturday. Thanks for the info.
“College Board delivers rush scores two to three days a week, typically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Non-rush scores ordered outside of registration are delivered once a week, typically on Wednesdays. Because of scheduling conflicts, scores might be delivered on different days or less frequently.”
“Scores are sent electronically through standard delivery and are typically sent within 5–10 business days of your order being placed or a couple of weeks after test day if you designated score recipients as a part of your registration.”
Thanks! I swear I looked for that info and didn’t see it. As of last night, a few of his schools show they have received official scores so they are starting to trickle in.
Curious why you’ve had to send scores? Almost every school I’m familiar with accepts self-reported until matriculation.
Really? Wish i would have known that before I paid for them! I thought most of his schools didn’t show “complete” status until scores were received. I’m sure im wrong.
Yes. If you add schools make sure to check. Personally we have only run into one school requiring actual scores. And National Merit also requires actual scores. I’m guessing some may require them for scholarship consideration, but don’t know for sure.
I’ve completely stayed out of my S25’s applications and am just now stepping in to help him fill in the SRARs. In this case it probably would have been better (at least for my wallet) to be involved! Live and learn.
