Hey. I received my post card saying that LMU has received all of my materials and that my application would be under review shortly. How long does it take generally for them to make a decision?

I applied for regular decision and received my acceptance letter today. Good luck!

My daughter received neither an acceptance, rejection nor waitlist. Today, she received a physical letter stating that they had done a preliminary on her application, but wanted to see her 7th semester grades. Anyone know anything about this?

I think that means they’d like to see her senior year grades. I didn’t get this letter, though. She should talk to her counselor at school. I wish her luck on getting accepted.

Most definately have your school send your Senior year semester grades ASAP. We found out in late March that LMU was missing my daughter’s, so had them sent right away (even though they had been sent before) We were never notified that they had not received them.

But, be prepared for a VERY LONG WAIT to hear admisson notifications. Last year my daughter did not receive hers until April 12, and from the discussions here on CC, there were still lots of kids who had not heard as of then. They seemed extremely unorganized and chaotic last year in their admission notifications. D did not get in, though her stats were solid and in the middle of their ranges.

Good luck everyone!

Here is our recent LMU experience. My daughter is a high school senior and applied to LMU early admission in October. No reply at all, and no answers to her emails…even though they say they will answer all admissions emails in 48 hours. My daughter received a number of their “be patient” canned emails. We went to LMU for a visit two weeks ago, and when checking in for the tour the Admissions secretary said her transcript was missing, and to call back Monday. Another Admissions officer we spoke to, the one who gave the presentation, acted as if it was my daughter’s mistake, even though they had received everything else from her high school in October. On Monday she called back, and they “found” the transcript, no apologies whatsoever. LMU processed her form, and a couple days late she received an acceptance letter. My impression…is that the Admissions office is understaffed (they have only 10 employees) I heard several times that they are overwhelmed with applications…but they are talking about less that 10,000 applicants. My daughter’s GPA is unweighted 3.8 from an academic (tenth in country) public school, 1310 SAT Reading/Math, applied in Business, and like most students has tons of extracurriculars. No scholarship of any kind was offered, whereas Chapman (with same major) offered an $18,000 per year scholarship. Anyway, throw that in the mix of data!

Nice to see you again, BayArea.

We had a fun time last spring waiting for LMU, didn’t we? My son didn’t hear until April 15th only because HE called the office to ask if a decision had been made. The lame excuse was “Huh. That’s weird. I don’t know why he didn’t receive a decision.” It was a “admit”, after admitted students day… Totally unacceptable. This is what admissions offices do - they evaluate candidates and notify them with an admissions or a deny. Losing documents happens, but from our experience (and many others in son’s school), there were way too many mistakes. He was an EA applicant back in October, got denied early in December and then began the long wait until he finally called them mid-April, after several emails and phone calls.

BTW, son got a nice scholarship from Chapman, and is in the middle of spring semester of freshman year there. Loves it. He is beyond happy at Chapman - good program and professors, amazing campus, terrific friends and the admissions and financial aid office has been EXTREMELY helpful and professional, along the way.

I highly recommend Chapman.
