How long for transfer courses to show up in UC database for credit purposes?

After you submit your transcripts to a UC, how long will it take to know what classes have been accepted for transfer credit?

Probably varies. I transferred to Berkeley a couple years ago… based on old DARS reports, they had input the list of classes I’d taken (number of credits) by late July, and sometime before November it was updated with which requirements things filled (subject credit). I’d say don’t expect anything to be up before the end of summer, but it should be there by the end of the first semester/quarter.

You could also ask your advisor if you have specific questions/concerns.

Thanks failure622, appreciate your response.

For UCLA, you won’t find out until you go to orientation. The first orientation is at the end of July and I think the last is mid/ late September. So it’s a little different for everyone.

My daughter started at a Cal State, then transferred to a CC, she will be attending UCSB in the fall. She assumes that all her Cal State courses will transfer over since they were GE classes, including English, Economics, and a Comm class. Her CC used these courses to fulfill the requirements for her IGETC. Her CC has certified her IGETC, does that mean these classes will automatically be accepted for GE purposes even thought there is no articulation agreement between the Cal State and UC schools?
Thanks

If her IGETC is certified for the UC then she’s good for her lower division GE requirements. But just because she’s good for GEs doesn’t mean her other courses will automatically count. For example if her Econ course filled X requirement for IGETC, that doesn’t automatically mean that Econ class will be equivalent to an Econ course at UCSB. She’ll definitely get unit credit, and GE credit for IGETC courses, but not necessarily specific subject equivalency.

She will be a Comm major and took all the prereqs at her CC which articulated…so she will be find in that regard. She was concerned that for credit purposes UCSB could dis-allow a Cal State class–thus putting her unit count less than 60…

Thanks for clarifying 2016Candles…

From my understanding, and by no means any authority, if the CC certified her for IGETC, any courses taken under IGETC are transferable.
