How long until I receive my additional unsub loans?

<p>My mom got denied of the PLUS loan. No big deal, I’ll receive additional loans in my name. Well, she got denied about last week and my school hasn’t offered any additional loans as of yet. They mentioned in the instructions for the PLUS application that if the parents are denied, additional loans will be offered in the student’s name.</p>

<p>In the PLUS form, we did check off that the student (me) will receive loans if the PLUS loan is not accepted. This also happened last year, but they promptly offered me a PLUS loan. Did I do something wrong in the process? Or do only some students receive the additional unsubsidized loans? Thanks for any replies.</p>

<p>You need to call your school financial aid office and find out what their timing is in all of this. Many schools get this info in batches and if you are lucky and your info goes out in a batch immediately after you go through your process, things are done lickety split. If you miss that boat, the next batch may not go for another week. But do call and ask what they have, so if there is some problem, you get it taken care of right away.</p>
