Calling the University on Monday…but kiddo completed the Common App on 9/10 for 5 schools. Common App shows that 4 of the schools have downloaded her application/supplement, and they’ve all been in contact with her (thanks for applying, etc.). UMich apparently has NOT downloaded the app/supplements, and she’s gotten no acknowledgement from them of her application. Is there usually a delay? She’s concerned because, as a potential musical theatre applicant, she needs to get through the academic review before she’s granted an audition date on campus. Best to start out calling the general admissions number?

My son’s application has not been downloaded either. I called admissions and they said that it would take at least 2 weeks to get a response from them.

Yeah, I finished mine September 4th and they haven’t downloaded it yet.

Mommafrog, my son is at the school of music. If I recall correctly, it seemed to take them quite a bit longer to process him for academic clearance than regular LSA applicants. I believe this is due to the communication (and they really do communicate) between regular admissions and the School of Music. So don’t expect things to be speedy, but also know that the SOM keeps on top of things generally. Eg. you will, if clear, get a letter and email that you’ve cleared, the get an invitation to audition, etc. But then you may wait again to get the actual audition date.

Long and short of it is, don’t panic. The process for UMich and SMTD together is just a little longer and more laborious than at other schools. In case you don’t know, music/music theater students at UMich often end up having to wait to hear until well after the last March audition date. A rare few will have an “earlier” admit (eg. my son’s admit was 10 days after, which was Feb. 24th, but scholarship info did not come for another month).

I survived the process via many deep breaths
Wishing you well! K

Don’t forget that this is UM’s first cycle using the common app, so that could easily cause delays, I would think.

Update – kiddo just checked Common App, and her application was downloaded by UMich today – 10 days after she submitted. So she at least knows the process is getting started!! Thanks to those who replied…now fingers crossed for the next phase – the academic review and (hopefully) audition granted!!

My son’s application was downloaded today also. He submitted it 9 days ago. Has anyone gotten an email from Michigan with log in info for the status check on wolverine access?

My son got an email with log in information for Wolverine Access. The process has begun! When we log in though there is really no information yet about the application, it just says links will vary depending on application.

Basically that^
