How long will Dave Matthews Band play?

My d wants to go to a Dave Matthews Band concert at Fenway Park (Boston).

If the concert begins at 6:30pm, what time would you guess it would end?

We must drive over an hour the next morning for a 6:30am flight out of Providence, so I am trying to assess whether anyone in their right mind would permit their child to attend said concert.

My best guess is 6:30 start time means main act wouldn’t hit the stage til 8-ish. Done playing and encores by 11? I might have a better sense after I see them Saturday night.

If you decide not to let her go can I buy the tickets?

Dave Matthews is okay, but the real news is that the GRATEFUL DEAD are touring NOW. First show was last night.

The ‘original’ Grateful dead, before Jerry died have thousands of shows on archive.org (and so does the Phil Lesh Bands)

We saw DMB at an outdoor venue that has a strict 11PM curfew, but don’t know about Fenway. As ingerp said, I wouldn’t expect them to start before 8.

Just checked. Willie Nelson is opening, so who knows how long it’ll go.

Hmm, I’ll have to see about the Fenway curfew thing.

ingerp, if you could check back in after you go, that would be great – especially if you also see Willy.

The trip on Sunday is to her university for orientation, and she will have to take a French placement test that day. Then, I’m guessing that she will be out and about with her fellow frosh that night. So, should she attend the concert, she should be just about catatonic by the time she is scheduled to choose her classes for the fall on Monday.

D1 actually has tickets for that show. But she’s 22 and lives in Boston.

I think Fenway has an 11pm curfew for concerts. The concerts in '06 (or '07? anyway, the last time the band came) finished around 11.

Start time on the tickets was 7 PM. Opening act actually started within a few minutes of that. Played 45-ish minutes. I didn’t check my watch, but I believe about a half-hour break before DMB (i.e., I think they started 8:15-8:30). They played solidly until shortly before 11:00. Short break before encore. Show was over at 11:15. (And it was awesome. DH happened to see Grateful Dead on Wednesday. Not even close. DMB rocks.)
