My d wants to go to a Dave Matthews Band concert at Fenway Park (Boston).

If the concert begins at 6:30pm, what time would you guess it would end?

We must drive over an hour the next morning for a 6:30am flight out of Providence, so I am trying to assess whether anyone in their right mind would permit their child to attend said concert.

My best guess is 6:30 start time means main act wouldn’t hit the stage til 8-ish. Done playing and encores by 11? I might have a better sense after I see them Saturday night.

We saw DMB at an outdoor venue that has a strict 11PM curfew, but don’t know about Fenway. As ingerp said, I wouldn’t expect them to start before 8.

Just checked. Willie Nelson is opening, so who knows how long it’ll go.

Hmm, I’ll have to see about the Fenway curfew thing.

ingerp, if you could check back in after you go, that would be great – especially if you also see Willy.

The trip on Sunday is to her university for orientation, and she will have to take a French placement test that day. Then, I’m guessing that she will be out and about with her fellow frosh that night. So, should she attend the concert, she should be just about catatonic by the time she is scheduled to choose her classes for the fall on Monday.

Start time on the tickets was 7 PM. Opening act actually started within a few minutes of that. Played 45-ish minutes. I didn’t check my watch, but I believe about a half-hour break before DMB (i.e., I think they started 8:15-8:30). They played solidly until shortly before 11:00. Short break before encore. Show was over at 11:15. (And it was awesome. DH happened to see Grateful Dead on Wednesday. Not even close. DMB rocks.)
