1st year i went part time and worked.
2nd year full time.
3rd year and current GPA is 3.06 with 49 credits.
How long will it take me to get a 3.5-3.7 ?
I’m assuming I will have to get straight A’s from now on. Also my major is Psych, but I am definitely changing it. Possibly to Computer science or go into nursing or even pre vet
This is just an algebra problem where you need to solve for the number of credit hours (y) with a 4.0 that will bring your GPA to the range that you want.
For a GPA of 3.5
(49 + y) x 3.5 = (49 x 3.06) + (y x 4.0)
y = 43
If you are on a quarter system that would be roughly one year of classes, and would be reasonably do-able before you graduate with your AA. If you are on a semester system, that would be roughly three semesters of classes, and force you to stay at your CC well past the completion of the credits needed for your AA. Which situation are you in?
Since nursing classes are harder than psychology, I think it would be hard to raise your GPA up. You can try taking one year of all non-academic courses and get 4.00 then take all your hard courses afterwards.
But you asked a very specific question and you got the answers. It is in fact a question of computing a GPA and the answer is that raising your GPA from 3.0 to 3.5 requires approximately the same number of credits you already have but all "A"s instead of the “B” average you have up till now. In order to raise it to 3.7 you would need almost 50% more than the number you already have, again all "A"s.
Since you generally cannot transfer more than 60 semester credits from a CC, you will only be able to raise your GPA a small amount unless you wish to take a lot of additional classes which will not count for anything.
