Will SAT scores be used only for the undergraduate admissions (meaning both freshman and transfer)?

or will it continuously be used when I apply for jobs or for graduate school?
If so, I need to retake my SAT.

They’re not used for jobs. Or grad school. At least, not any grad school I’ve heard of… but if you want to go into law or medicine, you get to look forward to LSATs and MCATs for grad school.

well yeah.
I’m planning on going to Business school so i have to take GMAT.
but I was just curious if SAT was used in any other occasion other than undergrad admission.

relieved

Sometimes internships and jobs during your undergrad might ask for them, but never after.

Probably the next time they’ll crop up would be a prospective ego-fest somewhere down the line.

If you want to work at DE Schwarz, you apparantly need a 1500.

DE Shaw…

My old homeroom teacher said she had to list her SAT score on a job application when she was in her late 20s.

if you transfer during undergrad it may be looked at. if you go onto grad school look for the GRE (basically the same thing). the LSAT, GMAT, and MCATS are also there. they are constantly trying to test us and measure us against eachother. it’ll end… eventually

There are employers out there who will ask for your SAT scores, though it’s certainly a minority.

They are sometimes used as a prerequisite for begininning courses in college. For example, my school uses them as a means of separating students into different General Chemistry classes.

I actually took my SAT’s 20 years ago, and the programs that I am applying to are asking for them.

SAT has a new policy that they will not validate your SAT scores past 5 years. BUT, it depends on if the school cares.

The school is not making me retake them…mostlly b/c of my age.

If you apply for summer internships at managment consulting firms: McKinsey, Mercer Oliver) IBs (Merrill Lynch, CItigroup, Lehman0 they definitely ask for your SAT scores in addition to your transcript.

Grad schools will never ask for SATs because there will be new entrance exams that would be required for them (LSAT, GMAT, GRE, etc.), but certain employers will continue to ask for them for 15-20 years after. Makes you wonder if they even compare them correctly among applicants or have an idea that they were recentered or the percentiles have changed.

It could become embarrasing if you become President and those “I beat the President on my SAT” facebook groups start appearing.

sydney:

There have been articles in the WSJ which report that more than one company asks about SAT scores when interviewing college grads.
