to be honest, i’d say unless u’re a world class person, 2000 and a 29 is the minimum

jimmy choo, from last year’s ED thread had three things working against him last year: Asian, International, and a mere 2020 on the SAT. His hook had to be AMAZING because he managed to get in last year. I’m thinking his parents are international celebrities?

is his dad Jimmy Choo, the maker of those expensive sandals that celebrities wear? those things are off the hook. –> http://www.jimmychoo.com/pws/Home.ice

if so, then that may be the case. otherwise theres no other way he would’ve gotten in.

well, let’s not be kidding ourselves here. This kid masters five languages, did relatively well on the British exams, AND his dad is a freakin’ crazy person for the celebrities. And of course, he’s an Englishman, an English gentleman after all.

ummmm…maybe its the 5 languages that he’s fluent in??

Wat if u know 4 languages fluently, is that a hook?

Well, if u know 4 languages fluently, it’s an advantage, but not a hook. I know people with 5 languages (myself included), but councelors in my school keep telling us that it is NOT a hook.

how would the adcoms know if an applicant or the applicant’s parents are celebrities?

I’ve heard stories about people getting into HYPSM with lower scores than yours, hopeful… I think you’ve got a fighting chance…

jimmy choo was not a celebrity, his real name is jeremy chan. british international. he was biracial a well(which they love)-(more so than URMs). sister at harvard

Yeah… (10)
