How mandatory is it that I notify USC by May 1st?

I’m in to both USC and the Thematic Option, so how long will they hold my spot before I let them know?

Until May 1st.

how do u tell them no?

There was a postcard to decline the admission offer in your acceptance packet - you just send it in.

freshprince, if you have some situation preventing you from making your deposit, you should contact admissions and ask for an extension. You MIGHT get one for admissions, but Thematic Option has a waiting list that they will fill right after May 1st - your extension would probably not hold TO for you.

Cali,
In the admissions packet there was a card/paper you could return. It is courteous to write a short note telling the university you have made another choice. This would be a good idea, especially if you were offered a scholarship or financial aid.
If you and your family are absolutely positive you will not enroll, please reply as soon as possible. A spring admit may be hoping and hoping for that spot.

^^Good point Georgia. People who are sure they do not want to enroll should notify the school as soon as possible.
