How many activities can you do in college?

Is it possible to do a club sport, join a frat/party, join academic clubs, and major in business econ with a minor or two, and get pretty close to a 4.0?

Throughout high school I’ve been involved in track each year, got a 3.8uw while taking all honors/ap classes, partied 2-3 times a week, and been involved in some academic clubs. So I’m able to spread myself pretty thin.

But in college is much harder? Just wanted info/opinions on how much everybody does/did in college.

Thanks

Depends on the person, their base amount of energy, their work ethic, their recovery time and any amount of enhancers they might take.

In short, it can be done. If you stay focused on what you’re doing there’s no reason you can’t have it all.

It all depends on you. But, you’re free to join as many things as you want, but don’t forget about that studying.

There are far fewer academic clubs in college than in high school; you are already surrounded by like-minded people in most of your courses. College students who are seeking more academic engagement are more likely to take an additional class, attend colloquia and seminar talks, or set up an independent study or research project with a faculty member.

An idiot can get through high school with a 3.8 UW. College is the one that weeds these people out…my HS had something like a 5% dropout rate. My college has a 50% dropout rate.

I don’t know how difficult business econ is…if I’m to believe stereotypes it’s pretty easy. But I doubt you could do other stuff 24/7 and manage a 4.0.

Business econ gets the bad rep that general business gets. It’s a lot harder as it’s basically a math major that focuses on business aspect of things and I’m going to a school whose public business ranking is top 10 .

Considering I don’t take any easy A classes, any idiot with my schedule would most likely end up dropping a class or two. The only non honors classes I’ve ever taken were entry level drawing, spanish 1, algebra 1 and physical science (all eighth grade and freshman year). I also do a lot of projects beyond standard curriculum.

And I want to join investors club when I go to college; it’s something I’m very interested in. I also may want to join club crew, but if it’s a huge commitment then I won’t. Studying has always been top priority, I’ve stayed in on Friday nights before to study.

Thank you for the feedback, the energy concern is definitely what would hold me back on this one.

I agree that it depends on the person. Some people are excellent time managers or studiers and don’t need a whole lot of time to understand the material they’re learning. Others do.

also depends on the school and the activities themselves. Unless you were really dicking around in high school though, odds are your GPA will be LOWER in college than in high school.
