With every AP exam comes the opportunity to leave an answer blank if you have absolutely no idea what the answer is, to avoid the -.25 point penalty. What is the most you guys have ever left blank? I left about 5 blank on AP Euro a couple years ago, but I answered every question on APUSH and AP English Language last year.

And how did you do on those Exams??

4s on the ones without blanks, a 3 on the one with blanks. Not impressive by CC standards, but sufficient for credit. Think about it though, if you have no idea, you’re taking a random guess and risking the penalty. Leaving a blank here or there may not seem right at first, but it’s better than a random stab in the dark.

2009 exam:
AP Chemistry- I think like 10 or 15. receive a 5.
AP World History - 5-7(the modern history ones) receive a 5
AP Calculus AB - I believe around 7 blanks. receive a 5

Yeah, FR is all you got left if you left too many blanks on the MC. But the number I left blank is still good enough to get you a good score on the MC.

AP Human Geography:
I left around 6 or 7 blank. I got a 5.

For AB Calc, I left about ten blank, which is close to a fourth. For the free response, I left about a fourth blank too. I got a 3.

For Chem, I remember leaving about half of the answers blank for the multiple choice section and about a fourth for the free response section. I was really surprised to find out I got a 3 since I slept most of the time and didn’t really know what was going on in that class… =/

Mathematically, if you can omit one of the answers, then it is to your advantage to guess

I’m pretty sure it’s actually 2, atleast on AP Euro.

You get penalized .25 points for a wrong answer and with 5 possibles… you have to eliminate 2

0 MC
.5 FRQ ($%#$ Taylor polynomials)

pretty sure it’s just one

Eliminate 1 you break even
Eliminate 2 you have an edge

I’m pretty sure I left about 20 blank on the Multiple Choice on the AP Euro exam last year…
I wrote only half a page for the 2 FRQs and like 2 pages on the DBQ…
Passed with a 3… didn’t know how that happened…

Yeah I think this is right. My mistake
