How many AP classes are too much?

I want to take 5 AP’s and one honors class my Sophomore year. I took 6 honors this year and wasn’t challenged at all.
-AP Statistics
-AP World History
-AP Environmental Science
-AP Human Geography
-AP Chemistry or AP Psychology
-Honors World Literature

I’m a good student, I want to get all A’s, I don’t want to take them just to pass them. Will 5 be a work overload?

if you have the motivation and determination necessary, I think you could do it. AP is all about time management and willingness to work. If you believe you have the time and are willing to put in the work, then go for it.

Also, the AP’s you are taking are not necessarily HARD (with the exception of chem). World History, Psychology, and Human Geo are all memorization.

Good luck!

Yeah. For most people, Statistics, Env Sci, Human Geo, and Pysch are easy ones, even for self studying. World History is a bit more of a challenge and AP Chem is pretty hard. It seems like this is what it’s going to be like for you because you seem like the type of guy.

Just make sure the homework load doesnt overwhelm/surprise you. I have said they’re easy, but by no means is the workload light either. The grades aren’t easy to get. AP World surprises a ton of people because for some people, thats their 1st AP.

You gotta learn to fit extracurriculars in too. Especially if you’re going from 0 APS freshman year to 5, be careful.

I really think that’s challenging, but it might be bit challenging. Like World History has lot of imformations.

spend your whole summer like this.

review aps

review aps
3.review aps

review aps

review aps

review aps

SAT
8.review aps
9.review aps
10.review aps
11.review aps
12.review aps

and you should be fine ;)

i think it’s a lot for sophomore year, but other than chem they’re not that difficult ap’s. So if you have the time and work ethic go ahead.

Stats, Environmental science, Human Geography, and Psychology are all “jokes.” Chemistry and World History aren’t too bad either. You are lucky that your school allows you to take so many APs in sophomore year and you should take advantage of this. I don’t think any number of APs is too much, it depends on the student, and if you are smart and diligent like you appear to be you should be able to do well in these classes. You don’t need to review APs in the summer, although it might give you a bit of a head start.

I don’t think you will be overloaded. Some of the APs you want to take are easy, so you shouldn’t have too many problems. I plan to take 4-5 as well.

33 would be too many.

I think five is the perfect amount if you’re a really hard-worker and overachiever. Anything over that and you lose your right to call yourself sane.

@bluedevils1

Great idea lol. No life the APs for no reason.

You can definetly do it. I’ve taken six in one semester. But 5 as a sophomore, I don’t think you understand the difference between honors and AP. You might think you do, but trust me, there’s a big jump in between.

Human Geography, Environmental, and Psychology are APs in name only at most schools. Really easy.

It’s a lot for sophomore year (we can only take 1 as a soph- AP US Gov), but those are some of the easiest APs you can take (except Chem), so good choices I guess for that early in high school with so many APs.
