How many Appointments Per State?

From what you guys know, can you give an approxiamation of how many appointees were from your state.

Rhode Island had 5 exactly.

How do you find out a number like that?

Has the class profile been published?

I can’t remember if they wait until closer to I-Day, and I don’t remember it broken down by state.

If you need the data, contact the Academy. They may just give it to you (not like it’s classified or anything).

Wisconsin has 10

USNA will publish this information later this year under the “Class of 2010 Profile.” At this point and up until I-Day, there still may be a bit of shuffling in terms of who is admitted. The profile for Class of 2009 is available (probably on USNA’s web site) if you want a general idea.

If you’re asking if there is a fixed “quota” from each state, the answer is no. In fact, some states may not send even the minimum number of mids they’re allowed to send due to lack of qualified candidates in the state or in a particular district. There is also not a per se maximum for any state – again, due to the vagaries of the admissions process.

I know there are 14 from our little corner of Virginia. Given the large military population here, I would guess that a lot of them are using Presidential appointments, which would leave the MOC appointments for those who are not miltary dependents. Virginia will be well represented this year.

Are the #s being shared “annual” appointments for 2006? Or are they “collective”, i.e. like the way Senators, Congressmen, VP nominations are counted.

As usual, I’m confused and welcome edification/clarification.
