<p>they kinda screen. as in, they say you must have a B or higher in the honors class (you can’t get in thru “standard” classes–even if you have straight 100s in standard classes)</p>
<p>Honors classes > most AP classes in other schools
so its like, if you get B or higher in an honors class you’ll probably get a 5 then and there, so after you take the AP class with >>>>> most intro college courses at even places like MIT how can you not get a 5?</p>

<p>So 21 total. In a few years they might be replacing it with the IB diploma, but I am not sure. They don’t limit how many APs you can take. There is this one genius (36 on his ACT first try no prep in 9th grade) that has taken like 15 so far and is taking 7 his senior year O_O</p>

<p>kind of lacking in social sciences dept. 
i’m not 100% sure about some of the foreign languages, and world history is only going to be added next year, sooo. we have a pretty high pass rate for most of the classes, and mostly it’s juniors and seniors who take them, though i don’t think there’s a specific rule about underclassmen; usually it’s just because they have so many course requirements that there’s no room on the schedule.</p>

<p>I go to competitive public… and our school offers 25 APs.</p>
<p>With the exception of AP European History, all of our AP classes has 90-100% pass rate. The honors and AP level courses in our school is extremely difficult, at least in my opinion. My honors math analysis class had EVERYONE who took the Math II on June get 800. My AP Calc and AP Biology practically has 90%+ get 5’s on their AP tests.</p>

<p>Instructional quality varies considerably, and is usually inversely proportional to the number of students taking the class (people know which teachers give in to low standards and take advantage of that, unfortunately). The AP Program has grown immensely in the past several years at our school due to our AP coordinator (who happens to be leaving). All of these classes are only offered one time during the day (except AP English Language), so it’s hard to get them all to fit in your schedule.</p>
<p>Courses offered either every year or every other year or at least on a pretty consistent basis:</p>
<p>AP Psychology (very low pass rate, only people with some independent studying pass)
AP US History (last year was a 5% pass rate! Usually better than that, though)
AP US Government (historically it’s been a 20% rate, but last year it was switched over to someone midway and rose to 40%–I expect it to be at 60-70% this year)</p>
<p>AP Calculus BC (old teacher simply refused to teach BC material, though the new teacher taught it this year. Last year’s AB pass rate under a FULL double-blocked BC course was only 50%, three 5s, this year it should go up)
AP Statistics (horrible pass rate / teacher, it’s the old calc teacher)</p>
<p>AP English language (about 50% pass rate, I had the only 5 out of 40 kids last year)
AP English literature (I think around 50% as well. Very good literature teacher, but sometimes he strays far from what AP lit tests)</p>
<p>AP Spanish Language (very strong teacher, historically 100% pass rate, lately with the changes about 90%±-however, many of her students are native speakers who are just learning grammar intensively, though this is not all of them)</p>
<p>AP Biology (strong teacher / pass rate)
AP Chemistry (strong teacher, about 80% pass rate, but only like 10 kids)
