<p>Hi. Sending my first child off to college this summer from west coast to east and wondering if anyone has an approximate idea of how many bags that entails?
We are going to get sheets, towels, dorm stuff ect shipped separately.
Just asking because the amount of bags affects which airline we choose (note southwest is not an option!)

<p>Just send him with what all you have now and ask him to prepare a list of things which he need at the most ! This makes your work easy and simple !</p>
<p>I’d say that depends where on the East Coast he’s going. If he’s going Delaware on north he’ll need a more varied wardrobe, light for the early part, heavier for October/November, even December if he isn’t coming home for Thanksgiving and his winter break starts later. if he’ll be more south, one large duffel of clothes ought to be fine (unless he’s in the mountains, in which case the Northern wardrobe applies). Nothing more than a good polar fleece is really needed until early December, so jeans, t-shirts and other smaller clothing items would be fine. Make sure he really knows what he’s getting into climate wise: Maine is freezing by mid-November where-as Maryland is still in the 60s-70s (maybe 40s at night) at the same time.</p>
