How many books do you read for leisure?

How many books do you read for leisure? Are you too busy to read other books for enjoyment or are you just too lazy?

i read only in the semester breaks because like you mentioned, im just too darn busy, and reading all those textbooks really turn me off to the idea of addition reading and…make the idea of “leasure” reading abominable.

but! in the semester breaks i read three or four books or a novel and one book.

I am mostly too busy during the school year to cram in books for leisure. Historically I have not read for leisure during the school year, but this semester I have crammed in a couple books.

I read from a non-school book every day.

I try to read whenever I can, which is not often. When I’m home for breaks, I spend a good amount of of my time reading.

I didn’t read a leisurely book so much during the school year until this year. I’ve been so stressed out that I started reading ALOT of books to help myself chill the heck out. I now read like 2-3 books a week, usually done with one or two in 2-3 days. I also listen to audio books now too so I get even more books in a shorter amount of time because I listen to the book instead of music now…

When do you read? I have been using reading to de-stress too but I am having a really hard time fitting it in.

Literature? Never. Books about a subject I’m trying to learn about, all the time.

Leisure reading…a thing of the past. The last few books I’ve read have been for AP Lit, and were also enjoyable to me.
Going After Cacciato…can’t say that was my favorite, though. But other books I’ve really enjoyed.

To be honest, I don’t know anyone who does.

@Vertigo, I loved Going After Cacciato! Awesome metaphor for the Vietnam War.

For leisure reading, not nearly enough. I love love love to read but have little free time to do so, much less to go to a bookstore/library to buy/check out said books. Luckily, I’m on spring break so I brought three books with me that I’ll probably all finish.

If anyone’s looking for a good read, I’m near the end of “Incredibly Loud and Extremely Close” and I think it’s a wonderful book.

I read a lot during long breaks like winter and summer, but I cannot focus on pleasure reading when school is in session. I have books to read for class and I’ll usually do that during times when I’d be reading for pleasure e.g. before bed or when I’m watching TV. I have begun the habit of reading guilty pleasure chick lit books when I’m at the gym cycling.

I read every day. I’m not in college, so none of it is because of education requirements.

i come from Taiwan… i think i only can read 1~2 books in my leisure…
because every students in my country are too busy to read any books but textbooks…
i need to do a lot of assignment which teacher gave… the important things i want to show you guys is that Taiwan students are poor in learning… every day, we are always play with quize, homeworks, etc…i really want to read novels and some books i like but i am occupied by those so called “good books”…
at this moment… my mom is asking me to take those thingsssss…

I come from Taiwan. Actually, I only read books in the summer or winter vacation, I am quite busy during the semester. I read 3 novels in this winter vacation. It seems that it doesn’t enough to the students, but it took most of the time I had in my winter vacation.

^ everything is absurb and we should all just end it

I’m only in my senior year of high school and have almost no time to read for leisure as it is… I manage to cram in a few books throughout the weeks but it’s not the same as plopping down and finishing a book within a day or two. That hasn’t happened in a long time.

I try to read 30 - 40 books per year apart from school work. Novels, history, and philosophy mainly.
