How many CC-ers know each other in real life?

Thank you ellebud.

Amazing how many people have accounts that started 5-6 years ago --and more in several cases! I have met a couple of people from the old CC guard, but probably fewer than I should have. That happens when they insist to meet for breakfast! I also knew a couple of posters before they joined CC, as I was a schoolmate of their sons.

I am still waiting for Cur’s invitation to visit his ranch, but he must be afraid I would leave with one of his motorcycles. :)

Curm…next time you’re in my neck of the woods I WILL be able to meet you. My day job was interfering with things like this last time…not so anymore:)

Xiggi…I had wanted you to meet my daughter before she left CA…and my understanding is it COULD have happened…but didn’t!

I don’t think I know anyone IRL who posts here but after reading annasdad’s post was a bit worried I might be the in-law but after looking at some of his recent posts am pretty sure not.

Who else decided to check?
:)

xiggi and thumper1´s daughter? Not seeing it. Someone would need to become more diplomatic and liking school teachers more, but thumper1 is retired, so maybe that wouldn´t be an issue.

Both my guys have hosted CCers for on-campus visits. My kids have met the kids of a couple of CC parents, too (and both have met at least one CC parent).

Haha, Oldfort, one might think that Thumper knows who she’d be dealing with! And has for a very long time! Some of my very best friends in life are people I can disagree with vehemently on issues of politics or religion.

At the risk of derailing this thread, let me opine that there are different levels of diplomacy, and being direct might work better than relying on hidden hypocrisy. One should have the courage of his or her opinions, and not fear expressing them nor fault people who are as forceful on the other side of the aisle.

Fwiw, the issues facing our education system are complex, and they are not defined by “not liking the teachers” on a blanket basis. Condemning a system that victimizes both students AND teachers by protecting a few chosen ones is quite different from “not liking the teachers.”

It may very well happen that the finer points we try to make are easily lost in a public forum, but this rarely happens when discussing the same matters in private.

Just saying!

Xiggi, when we meet, we’ll have to discuss toothpaste.

So maybe this is a new thread, but it just occurred to me: how many CCer parents also have their kids on CC? Do they all know that each other is there? Or do the kids keep their identity secret from their parents, and vice versa?

S was on cc in his senior year. I don’t think he cared about anonymity because he used his full name! But I would’ve recognized him through his posts. He has a sarcastic sense of humor.

Oh, yeah. We read over each other’s shoulders. They aren’t here much these days.

As far as I know neither kid ever posted, but they would read threads I suggested.

My s set up an account many years ago to mess with me. Had a “conversation” with me on cc than he then quoted at the dinner table!! Wiseguy.
