How many college students work?

Like whats the percetnage of students that work part time during the school year?

depends on college and campus. In cities almost all students work and all will work in some time.

I work!!! Of my friends, about half have work/work study. Most students who don’t work at my school complain about not having a job and being broke. There is a small portion of students also who have very difficult courseloads which makes it hard to maintain a job, but they are in the minority.

I work. I have an internship and do research.

I won’t be working freshman year, as I worked my ass off in high school and saved up a lot of cash (worked same job for 2.5 years).

I plan on getting another job after freshman year, though.

About 1/2 the people I knew worked, whether it be through the school or outside of the school.

Seems about half work.

I think about half of my friends worked as well, and I could be wrong but I think more people start getting jobs later in college once their comfortable with it. I had a job my freshman year, though it was only a about 10 hours a week as a janitor in a dorm right next to mine.

See I’m very frugal so I need to work. I have plenty saved and have scholarship spending money plus some extra loan money, but I just don’t like spending without having a consistent income. However, I don’t want to be stressing myself out during my first semester at college and I want have a little more free time then I did in HS (where I concentrated on my studies for the most part). So I’m not planning on working my freshman year, at least for the first semester. I want to enjoy life a little and get adjusted to my new environment. If I need to, I’ll get a job next semester, but I do have a good amount saved.

See the thing is that I usually work during the summer, I just don’t think I’m meant to have a job and do school at the same time. I only had a job once during the school year. Don’t get me wrong, I balanced it well, but it just sucks to work on weekends. It’s the only time I ever get to relax from doing a lot of school work. (I was salutatorian). And I enjoy sleeping; however, when I hear about the other type of obligations that many students balance I feel that maybe I’m just lazy. lol :p

Not too many freshmen I knew worked their first year because they were still trying to get into the groove of college life and balancing their classes. However, a lot of upperclassmen I know do work, whether it be internships, part time jobs, or research. And there are some others that don’t work at all.
