I took in little puppies to help train them to be seeing eye dogs for a week. Because they were at my house 24 hours a day, would that count as 164 hours (7days*24hours) of community service?

How long did you spend actually training them?

I helped get them used to living in a home, so where to go to the bathroom, etc. It was the overall work that I did for them, cleaning their cages, walking them, feeding them, etc. I can’t put a time on it.

you could just mention what you did, and not mention hours. it’ll sound more genuine.

I’d use a standard 8hours/day. You are only awake for ~16 hours and you surely aren’t focusing on the dogs for that entire time.

Side note, you trained dogs to be seeing-eye dogs in ONE WEEK? And for free? How is this even possible… Don’t you have to be like certified to train them?

8hr/day seems fair

Again I just helped train them to not go to the bathroom on their owner’s carpet. I didn’t train them to be seeing eye dogs, but that is what they were supposed to become later in their lifetime.

You really need to list it as basic dog training then, not “help train them to be seeing eye dog,” which is very misleading.

I’m a bit shocked that anyone expected you to do even that for free though… Dog training, particularly for those kind of dogs, tends to be taken pretty seriously.

Zero. As you describe it, you were taking care of puppies. That is fun, but not community service.
