how many Electrical engineer are there in this forum?

how many of you are electrical engineer
and why isn’t there seperate identity of electrical engieering department
why is it always called EECS program
and not EE
can’t find a single college with EE department without CS attached to them.

I am an electrical engineer. The reason that most departments include comp sci is because comp sci grew out of the EE’s designing computers. Most of the original computer scientists were electrical engineers. As a result, most academic institutions drew on their EE faculty to create CS programs.

Some college have or have had seperate departments - Penn State has wavered back and forth a few times, but I believe it currently houses CS in a different college - no longer considered engineering!

At CMU EE is actually paired with Computer Engineering, leaving CS to its own school.
