I was reading the 2010 Guinness World Record. In it, I read about a woman who stopped shaving her face after her mother passed away. Her beard made it into the record books, growing to around 5 inches or something like that. Hey, I understand everybody has hair, including women, but DAMN.

I know the record books are far from the norm, but I actually no idea how many women shave their face to keep from being named “the bearded lady.”

Also, after reading that book, I’ll probably see woman from a completely different light from now on. Every time I see a woman, my mind would filter her face into a funframe that gives her a mustache.

Well not on a regular basis… and other people probably can’t even see it without being 2 inches from my face, but sometimes I see a little peach fuzz around my upper lip so I shave it just in case.

Haha, most women can’t really grow a beard. Sure, I have a teeeensy bit of “peach fuzz” on my upper lip, and most females do, but I don’t shave and I haven’t grown significant facial hair yet.

My facial hair is not extreme like that woman o.O

I grow a little hair on my face as well. But not a beard or mustache. Peach fuzz, I guess? I’m self conscious about it if someone is all up in my face! But there are women out there who might have extreme cases with facial hair because of a hormone imbalance.

I would never shave, it looks thicker when it grows back, and grows baker quicker. I get my lip threaded every month to month and a half. I’m Italian and that upper lip hair runs in the family.

Honestly, something is wrong if that lady could grow a beard. The only thing I can think of that would cause that is a mutation in the enzyme 21-hydroxylase, commonly known as congenital adrenal hyperplasia. The enzyme 21 hydroxylase normally converts progesterone into aldosterone (used for water retention in kidney) and cortisol (long term stress steroid), but progesterone is converted to testosterone instead. Too much testosterone in a woman = facial hair.

I mean, yeah, a five-inch beard is crazy, but women actually have a lot more facial hair than guys realize (depending on their ethnicity). Indian women, African American women, Mediterranean women, get the worst of it. Ladies with “just peach fuzz” are very lucky haha. But most girls don’t shave…think about it…shaving doesn’t make it look like you have NO hair, it makes it look like you have really short hair. So they either wax, do threading, tweeze, or do laser hair removal.

If girls didn’t have facial hair or hair in other “un-feminine” places, there wouldn’t be whole racks of hair removal products in drug stores. In any given CVS there are like eight different creams and waxes for facial hair removal for women. And laser hair removal places would get a lot less business haha.

The closest thing to visible facial hair I have is a few stray eyebrow hairs…the rest of the hair on my face is the fine, blond, virtually invisible hair that characterizes most women with my complexion.

Even I did have any, I wouldn’t shave it. Most girls I know that do have some visible facial hair (usually girls with a really dark complexion) either wax or pluck. I can’t say I’ve ever met a girl that shaves her face…
