How many letters of recommendation should I send USC?

Is two okay? Or is that too much since they don't require any? I know that colleges find it annoying when you send too many letters of recommendation. Any opinions are welcome :)
Thanks! :)

bump bump bump

1 from your counselor, 2 from two different classroom teachers in academic subjects, preferably from 11th grade. Sometimes students also send 1-2 more letters of rec from mentors/instructors who know them well thru extracurriculars, etc.

More than 5 total letters is considered excessive by admissions officers. Good luck!

USC says one:
<a href="">;/a>
"Counselor or Teacher Recommendations
All first-year applicants should submit one Counselor/Teacher Report and letter of recommendation. You may submit additional forms and letters; however, the number of recommendations received does not factor into our decision-making process."

anon: ask yourself "why only one?". Because the bulk of the decision process is weighted on your grades/scores. A continual stream of repetitive "he's a great kid" "She's got wonderful work ethic" is un-needed and unwanted by USC admissions.

Your feeling that you want to pack your application file will ultimately not serve you well.

Understand line of thinking for schools with USC's stated policy on letters of rec. To play devil's advocate, sometimes other schools request multiple letters of rec as a check that the student applicant can find more than 1 adult to vouch for them in different arenas of their lives. If they can't, it's often telling.

I would follow USC's recommendation and send in only one. There is an expression in college admissions, "The thicker the file, the thicker the kid." They're busy and don't like having a lot of extra material sent to them.

Thanks guys! I was just asking because for some other schools I need two letters, so I already have two teachers writing letters for me and I was just wondering if I should add their letters to my USC app too.
