how many masters programs to apply to?

have any of you had experience with masters in vocal performance programs?

What is it you want to know? Many of the best schools require a prescreening audition recording, from which applicants are chosen for in person audition. It is more likely to be very competitive for female, particularly soprano voices. Of course, if you are not accepted from the prescreens, it will be an uphill project to develop your voice/talent for a performance degree and/or career. My best advice would be that you not look for a number of schools, but rather that you find which schools interest you, see if you can determine if you are a competitive candidate for admission (your undergraduate voice teacher would likely have a valid opinion on this), consider where you want to live and study, and then decide where to apply. Good luck. Lorelei
