How many musicians do we have on here?

I’m an Asian female.

Recorder (one of the hardest instruments to master, ask anyone you know!)

Ever since that fateful recorder unit in 5th grade music class

While I do believe I have major skills, it’s all because my brilliant middle school music instructor who taught me exactly how to feel the music

Of course, it falls right between Future Presidents of Developing Nations club and English Channel swimming practice

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest level of skill, I think I’m at a good 11.5

^lol! Do any of you pianists have insanely large handspans or long fingers? Like, how much can you guys reach?

LOL @ ravenclaw
@randomazn sadly my hands can only cover an octave :frowning: 9 keys if i really really stretch.

What? but that’s what playing music is all about! :O

What instrument, if any, do you play?
French horn in concert band, mellophone in marching band, trombone in jazz band!

How long have you been playing it?
French horn - 5 years
Mellophone - 2 years
Trombone - …6 weeks? haha

Do you think you have any actual talent, or are your skills mainly the result of a lucky enough life to afford lessons/practice-learning time/both?
Since I don’t take private lessons and barely practice (and I’m good) I’d like to beleive I have talent xD I’m trying to practice a lot more though.

How skilled are you, really?
Well. It’s hard to say. I feel sort of average, but I’ve made 1st chair in the district honor band twice and am in the top level wind ensemble at my school. So above average, but I’m not a musical genius or anything.

I played clarinet for several years. Now, I just play piano.

I started some improvisation at three. Formal lessons came several years later, so about ten years of that.

Yes, I have talent.

It is my primary EC, though unfortunately I haven’t pursued the awards to back that up.

Quite skilled at what I do.

Relatively successful and talented tenor II. I made it to pre-area last year with hardly any preparation at all, so hopefully I can go to area or even make all-state this year.

I can cover a C to an F, obviously an F that is an octave up. I know people much bigger hands than me to.

^ your hands are big!

I played flute from fourth grade through ninth. Concert band fourth grade through eighth and then jazz band in fifth, six, seventh, and ninth grade. I had to quit playing after last year because of schedule restraints. I had to choose between band or art classes sooooo… I chose art.

^^ I lol’d hard.

I love playing piano =] played for about 11 years! and i picked up the alto sax about 7 years ago!

hope my high school band gets to go to WBA marching band finals this year =]

music helps me calm down and chill especially when im overwhelmed with tests and hw

Trumpet - 4 years
I guess I am okay. I definetly do have talent. I practice at least 5 hours a day though…
I love my trumpet <3

Trombone
I started playing a few weeks ago

Piano
I started playing a bit ago

I also give trumpet lessons to fellow trumpet players when asked for them.

I have sung in a great Chorus since I was 6 1/2 and I have played cello since I was 3 1/2. But I had to stop cello a couple of years ago due to time constraints. I think I’m talented but I did get a lot of training as well. I guess it’s a mixture. I plan on making singing in Chorus a major EC. I was very skilled on cello. I am fairly good at singing.
