How many of you are quoted in the "How to Survive" college book series?

I happened to be in the bookstore today, and saw the “How to Survive” College book series. I recognized several (at least 3) current and former CC’ers (myself included!) in one of the books, and recognized some local students in one of the other books!! Fun to see our suggestions put to good use. Of course CC gets recognition as well! Have any of you looked at the books since they were printed? Who else do you see/recognize?

And I thought I was plugged into this process … I never even heard of this series! I’ll check it out later today when I’m looking for hubby’s anniversary present at B & N (pretty sure I won’t be buying him these particular books, though  )

So who besides myself, anxiousmom and Berurah were interviewed for this book? Quotes from these 3 are in there. Who else was interviewed?

Oh wait-- I just recognized Roshke in the book!

If any of you were interviewed and want to know if you are quoted- I’ll be happy to check for you-- just PM me. They used whatever you authorized (name, initials or “anonymous”), your city and the college(s) your kid(s) attend

I talked to someone about the How to Survive the Admissions Process, Is that book out?

Yes-- thats the one! And I just recognized a big quote from Curmudgeon!

Fun! I will have to look at the text the next time I am in a big bookstore. Go Veteran CCers!

I’ve had the book for awhile but was in Borders the other day (where these were prominently displayed) chuckling out loud, as I recognized various posters. A couple of my quotes were over edited such that they didn’t make much sense, but overall I thought it was a very clever concept, well done and easy to read. One thing I thought was interesting was that there was a broader range of opinions from the parents in there than you’ll typically see here on the forum.

Well, all the folks who we think should write up their own stories, where are you? Oaklandmom, curmudgeon… Why let someone else do a cut and paste job from these boards and get all the glory?

k- I talked about showing my D the movie Love Story- because I wanted to show her the east coast in the cold, damp, snowing weather, and the movie takes place in NYC and Boston- her choices of cities at the time- and what was her reation:

She LOVED the sweaters, and gloves, and boots, and all that winter stuff

sigh

marite,
maybe after my story is “done” - that is once I’ve found a house & moved, maybe I’ll think about writing up the story. I was interviewed for the “How to survive the admissions” process book too - I’ll have to get to a bookstore & look thru it.

I remember someone asked me via PM if I would be interviewed for a book on college admissions but I didn’t want to do it…

oaklandmom-
You are definitely in the book, and CGM, I am pretty sure you are too. I don’t see the “Love story” line, but something about meteors?? Is that you?? (PM me and I’ll tell you more- or I will post more here if you say its ok)

i am gonna get the book anyway for my D…so no worries!!!

Oh my gosh - we’re all STAR EXPERTS!!! I went out and bought a copy, which I’ll gift to my sister-in-law, since she has a high school junior this year. There we all are, in all our opinions, in all our knowledge, in all our GLORY! I guess that’s our two minutes of fame…
   (so cur’s first name is “Tom”. I think “cur” is a funner name."

cgm-
I am pretty certain you are one of the “stars” to which anxiousmom refers. I also spotted another familiar name, location and college from another quote just a little while ago. How do we autograph each others books??

Gosh. Not only wasn’t I quoted, but I wasn’t even asked. I feel like I’m sitting home on prom night.

But at least I can now tell everyone my invisible friends are famous. I know that will impress people. :)

so sorry, binx-
Actually there were a few that I thought might have been you, but the initials, city and colleges didnt quite add up- close, but no cigar??

I did an interview. I’m curious enough to go look it over!
